GSY Video PS4

Here are some Playstation 4 videos of Star Wars Battlefront. Like on the other platforms, these videos show the three different maps and game modes available in the beta.

900p is unacceptable in this day and age,(720p is simply last gen) once you play 1080p 60 fps you just can't go back. The Uncharted ND Collection plays like a dream, I know UC4 is going to be amazing visually, but 60 fps will certainly be missed.

I will not be getting Battlefront day one at full price, it needed a single player campaign, the multiplayer modes I tried in the Beta have not sold me. Feels like a Star Wars cash cow tech demo.

I will not be getting Battlefront full price day one. The only way i'll consider it is if lots of my friends are playing it on Steam and if I manage to get it for very cheap on a Steam Sale. It needed a single player campaign, the multiplayer modes on offer so far have not sold me.
EA is only selling the game on Origin iirc.

It doesn't matter if its 900p, its just the resolution. It's the quality of textures, shadows etc that really matters when it comes to visuals. The only negative for being 900p instead of 1080p its a bit more aliasing. Also the game looks gorgeous btw.

Yeah, you're right, I added it as a non-Steam game and forgot it's an Origin only game. lol

I'm not being funny, but it matters to me, and in a huge way. I wouldn't even play games at 1080p on my 1440p screen because the image looks washed out and poor compared to a native 1440p image, no matter how many graphics features I enable.

Sorry, that's not true! When it comes to visuals, resolution is THE biggest thing!! You can prove that easily on your own ( of you have the hardware ), turn a game to 720p and set everything else on ultra, than compare the overall visuals with a 4K resolution @ low settings ... you will CLEARLY see that the 4K build looks way(!) better, than in lower resolution in spite of the low settings vs. ulta settings issue!

Obvioisly the gap between 900p and 1080p is not that huge like 2160p vs. 720p, but still noticible considering in 900p you have about 30% less pixels compared to 1080p.

Looks great but should have less glitches at this point, I hope the final game will have better lightsaber fight.
What I'm afraid is that I will not enjoy the game because I'm terrible player and all I will do is dying :D

I agree. Folks that have xray vision counting pixels while playing are in the minority. I will add that once the screen size gets to 60inches and above, you will notice some differences.

The biggest problem with this game is the lack of depth. Feels shallow to me plus a lot of glitches in the demo on consoles. To me if you want to play this game, skip the consoles and get it on PC. I'm a console guy but will not be buying this game for either my PS4 or XB1.

When I can choose Padme or Obi-wan?

BTW the hero controlling time is too short, I would pay to get more time for that if possible.

I wish this beta featured some sort of expansive open level that wasn't on rails

The flying feels like a missed opportunity. Maybe I'm still new to it but I wish I could button press barrel rolls or reverse flips

Also the vehicle and power up pick ups feel cheap and lame. Why not make a reward system to get the hero? Put a cool down time on it for each team
Spawn the team in with vehicles they can hop into like all your other games Dice

You can press a button to do barrel rolls. The flight model is very simple.

As long as you're not talking about kill/score streaks..

Both teams start the round with vehicles.. they just don't spawn until you activate them.

This isn't Battlefield. My biggest gripes: No Battlelog and the buddy system.

This would only be true of a massive screen. Otherwise Andreas is technically correct. All the resolution will not hide shoddy assets and mapping work. Upping the res is a bonus, or a luxury, as is the case with your example with 4k. Although, I do think 720p is pushing it as far as what should be acceptable, especially on a console where most gamers will be using screens in excess of 20 inches.

Either way, the game looks amazing. It really is a beautiful looking game in so many ways. Unfortunately it seems like less effort has gone into the actual depth of the gameplay as there has been on the replication on the visual side of all things Star Wars.

A big issue for me with this game is the very hefty & limited character movement. And I don't know why Dice always designs MP maps that expose this.

Many a time I have found myself bouncing desperately to get up a mild incline.

But that would mean only good players will get to be the hero. I don't think that's fair.

All i am saying its that the difference between 900p and 1080p is insignificant . 900p to 4k is obviously a big difference.

I thought I was the only one it's not just a simple case of more pixels it's matching that offer with your display. Scaling is a real issue so when people are like just drop the resolution to improve frame rate I wince, a better approach would be to offer cinematic bars, The Order 1886 did it and more games should offer the option at least especially as we are actually used to experiencing games in this fashion from trailers.

Upping ALL graphical features in a game is a luxury. The game may be running at 720p and 900p on the consoles but they certainly aren't running everything else at ultra settings.

In PC gaming most people use their display's native resolution and then dial back other graphical features till they get a playable enough framerate (THIS MAXIMISES ACCURACY AND SCREEN REAL ESTATE), on consoles that choice is wholly left up to the devs and I think they make the wrong call not starting at 1080p native and dialing everything back.

They sacrifice accuracy and screen real estate to have similar particle effects etc across console platforms which look shit at 720p anyways.

Yeah, I know what you're saying but you're wrong, it's not insignificant to a number of sophisticated gamers that can easily tell the difference especially when it affects their gameplay. Here's an example, all the reviewers for the Uncharted ND Collection are saying now that they are able to get headshots so much easier now than before, in so much so that even the devs are able to introduce harder difficulty modes than crushing in the games. The simple reason for that is, the game is crisp as hell on a 1080p screen and is much more fluid at 60 fps. If the game only got a bump in framerate and remained at 720p the headshots would be just as difficult to see.

The quality of textures and the image as a whole degrade as resolution degrades. Even color saturation and quality, contrast, everything, as fewer lines of resolution are used to show the image. Then there's ugly scaling artifacts. I can see a noticeable difference between the Xbone and PS4 here even though they are videos.

If the game has good AA and texture filtering I do not think resolution matter much. Dice needs to optimize their engine and modify it though I hope they are still working on it. But they are more interested in MP and 60fps I guess.

I feel bad for this growing group fixated on graphics. Are you guys really that turned off by what you see that it ruins the game. I click on these articles hoping to get some feedback on the the game and instead it's literally the same back and forth about pixels.

As far as gameplay, the game got better for me once I understood the flow. That being said I really wish there was more Battlefield in this game. Was anybody that faithful to the way the original battlefront worked.
