GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Released on PC a few weeks back at the end of October (and planned on PS4 and Xbox One in early 2016), Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide has finally been given the Gamersyde treatment. To find out what we think about the game and have a look at our 1080p/60fps videos, join us inside.

Verdict

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is obviously a Left 4 Dead lookalike where zombies have been replaced with rats and a more melee-focused combat system. The good news is that Fatshark managed to adapt it perfectly to the Warhammer universe and it works very well when playing with three friends. There is undeniably a feeling of repetitiveness after a while, despite the implementation of a randomized loot system to give players more incentive to keep playing and to try the most challenging difficulty settings. It can however feel a bit unfair to spend a long time exploring a map, risking the lives of everyone (death resulting in the loss of everything), just to win a weaker weapon than the one you own, so it would be nice if Fatshark found a way to balance their game a bit more. Aside from that, if you're looking for some bloody fun, Vermintide clearly has something to offer you
  • On the plus side
  • Killing hundreds of mutated rats with friends is fun
  • Great visuals and atmosphere
  • A welcome variety of weapons and characters
  • Loot rewards team work
  • Random loot and enemy placement
  • On the down side
  • Random rewards seem unfair too often
  • Melee combat could feel more visceral
  • Repetitive concept
  • AI controlled allies aren't always efficient

though to be fair the next big update addresses loot and ai so i heard, but all in all i have been enjoying playing the game on PC, its fun with people that know what they are doing, its hellish on earth with people no better than bots LOL....

what PC was this? This looks awesomly smooth....I have big big framerate drops with i5 2500k@4.5GHz + GTX 970. Even on lowest resolution and details I am very cpu capped. On maximum graphic details I'm both cpu AND gpu capped :D sadly the VRAM management and CPU usage is very wrong :/ I hope they will fix some things with the time

My videos (those not "labeled" Miguel) were captured with this rig:

PC videos : i5 4670K @ 4.1 GHz, 8 Go RAM, Windows 10, SLI Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 Gigabyte OC

But the game doesn't support SLI.

I really want to like this, but after 42 hours of gameplay, I´m done with it. I have a constant feeling of lack of progression. I still have two empty trinket slots, it´s just way too grindy for my taste.... Really it´s too bad, because the actual gameplay is fun for a while. But because of the loot system, it gets stagnant....

§I don't think the loot system is that bad. L4D2 was fun even without loot, without XP, without inventory.....of course you can't just play Cataclysm in Vermintide without having the proper equipment, but the point I am making is that even if it were too grindy, the game should not become boring. I think the main problem (aside from the technical problem = poor optimization) is that it lacks an identity. All the missions are the same. Same atmosphere, few different enemies. The palette of colors? Blue or green shades. What I miss is a true identity of each mission. In L4D2 not only every campaign hat its own location and design, but also every mission of each campaign had its traits. In Vermintide, you get the whole time some village or cave and a very weak final horde event. I could not even name a mission because they look all the same to me. And I did them all. Game is ok but no masterpiece.
