GSY Video Xbox Series X

During the Game Awards, Epic Games announced that The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience is now available to download for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This technical demo is set within the world of The Matrix. Written and cinematically directed by Lana Wachowski, it features Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. We captured this rather impressive experience on Xbox Series X in 4K.

Thanks for this, not going to be able to try it until I get access to my PS5 again in a couple of weeks.

This looks incredible honestly, and actually shows what is possible in games, since they mentioned that there is CPU overhead for more advanced gameplay systems, more AI, etc. Fine, this is what I wanted from this gen and seems like we are going to get it. Sweet.

This demo is truly impressive. It's all running in real-time and it was made by a very small team. They have many easter eggs with stats in the demo. They also released the stats in teir press release. They wanted to show what Unreal Engine 5 can do and how a small team of developers can achieve a lot.

Density is the key word, as everything has a weight to it. There's many options to toggle the graphics, settings, time of day, etc. Like many people have said, this shows how a GTA 6 can potentially look like. Once there's more current gen consoles on people's house and cross gen games are a very small minority, then we will start seeing more gorgeous and complex games.

We can't forget that both PS4 and XB1 already had bad specs at their time of release, specially the CPU, which hindered a lot of what developers could achieve in highly complex systems, once most AAA games focus only on PS5 and XBSX/S, we will start to see this console generation finally shine.

well, let just wait and see if the song keeps on chirpy when people have to compromise their 4K/60fps year, and year in for the chase of +mores visuals. Then the time to ponder on the shitty hardware will be the next tune on the playlist.

PS4 didn't had to wait +1 year to give "next-gen" showcases, not just a pretty Tech demo. It had it from the get-go in spades.

Lots of kudos to Epic for Lumen and their virtualized geometry tech Nanite!

20 years ago I thought that games will look like this by now which didn’t happen but after seeing this maybe I was just off by few years and only few years to go.

It will get better. As an UE user I can safely say there is much room left for improvement (VFX wise, Micro-Macro detail) and performance issues seen here won't compile into retail product.

Sure it’s not perfect but I didn’t think that it’s possible on a machine like the series s. I’m curious if it will be better or worse when an actual game is going to use these features
