GSY Video PS4

Even if we unfortunately could not attend Final Fantasy VII Remake preview following a particularly unfortunate event, big thank-you to Square Enix as they sent us new sequences of gameplay in 4K. Enjoy!

I tried to get into it several times because I really wanted to see more of that world after watching advent children and last order but it seems I'm too old for that game. I can't believe I have to wait a so much for the PC release

should be the other way around, usually someone cant get into old games because that person is too young.

well, I never played any turn-based JRPGs as a kid (I only remember faintly that there was Lord of the Rings game that was turn-based which I didn't like much) so the genre was alien to me. Nevertheless, what was off-putting was not the gameplay but the lack of a clear objective and feeling lost most of the time. I only got as far as I did thanks to walkthroughs

looks great. not a big fan of the remixed sound tracks though. too much rock where it was more piano and anvil chimes. it's not half bad but it does now feel a whole lot different. mater of fact the whole game is really different now. no single sound effect is remotely the same. I wonder if they'll bring back the classic sound effects and OST of the original as a bonus. like what capcom did with the RE2 remake. or maybe MODs will have to fix that down the line.

anyways. it's a newer experience for sure. no original OST, sound effects, transitions, random battles, traditional victory poses, magic spells posses.  quite a few things have been gutted in this from the original. i'm guessing classic gamers will have to play this remake with an open mind.

There used to be an old saying: If someone liked FF7 because of the gameplay, you knew they played it when it was first released. If someone said they like it because of the story, you knew they didn't play it until ten years after and didn't know shit about the series.

With that, seeing this gameplay is actually quite depressing. I would much rather have the turn based style than this ADD stuff. That was the only string of interest keeping my curiosity at its peak, seeing as it was established that they're not making this for people of my generation who originally played it, but instead for the newer ones, which is fine. But, I'm sorry that I'll be left out. Frankly, I'm a bit angry, too, that it's taken them this long to do this. Outside of the graphics, I don't believe anyone who originally played it at release would call this an upgrade or remake of the original. The materia system, the fighting, the 3D open world, and the well over a 100hours you could put into one PS save yet still not approach the hidden gems is was what made that game. Not strategy guides or the internet, which is why I'm positive they've waited too long. It's a shame.

I'm definitely going to play this but i do also have agree that a lot has changed in this.
it's almost practically a different game. apart from the characters and core story remaining.

I'm excited when i play the original some odd years inbetween. I was not when I played the demo. There were "hyped" games that the sophisticated debut was all(Ocarina, Mario 64, Metroid Prime), in here something is amiss.

Doesn't mean its bad. doesn't mean others can't enjoy it. just that maybe badgering a devs that is into current open-world action adventure to remakes old pre-rendered rpgs maybe wasn't that a great idea after all, just in our heads.

Turns out in the end that the gameplay is very solid, with poor level design though. As far as combat goes, this is more tactical and challenging than the original, but in fact, FF has never been that much tactical, except FFT. If you want deep tactics, Divinity Original Sin II is a splendid game.
