Xbox 360

Microsoft is a company known for not abandoning when they have a goal, so it's no real surprise to discover this brand new TV ad for the Xbox 360 featuring Blue Dragon, Final Fantasy XI, Lost Planet and Biohazard 5. Very nicely done too.

not bad at all. Could do with a little more footage of Blue dragon in it. Apart from that it's nice.

I really don't understand how important the Japanese market really is. They seem to get the better half of marketing and they're not the ones who appreciate things like this. Another thing I don't understand is everytime there's tv ad about a multiplatform title, the commercial ends with a Live in your world play in ours slogan. It's really ridiculous.

its called "globalization" and live in your world play in our is better than "the 3rd place" or "its good to play together"

and why does microsoft want japan....well the population is 127,417,244 thats a lot of prospective 360 owners. more owners = more games = cheaper (360) production cost in the end it will work out better for the average joe. and biohazard & lostplanet & blue bragon are jap developed and i sure as hell want them to come to the west....:)

Japanese game are often the best selling games, and are usually system sellers, but If the japanese dont like the console its on then you will have a hard time getting japanese devs on you console.

Exactly. Whatever people think, japanese developers are some of the best in the world and getting more of them on board 360 would rock.

i think MS have gone wrong with the gigantic 360 apearing over the streets, it looks like it's coming to dominate/oppress, and the japanese as a culture despise anything like that, throw some beatles music in the advert and it will sell like hot cakes. :)

MS would have to contact Micheal Jackson for that, since he owns the rights to the beatles music.

They went for the famous stuff. Toriyama's art, Biohazard, Final Fantasy, and that famous korean actor.

Are you not paying attention to the fact that Microsoft have actively pursued RPG development with the 360?

Micheal "I like to touch" Jackson had to sell most of them back because of his debt.

And the Japanese can keep their kooky games. Sports, shooters, adventure/action, platformer and racing for me please.

98% of people that play Xbox just do not care about Japanese games. I can't understand why when they make the BEST damn games out there.

As Vic Reeves says, 76.2% of statistics are made up :P

The Japanese make great games, Americans make great games and Europeans make great games. And they all make lousy games from time to time too!

Those people who don't care about Japanese games probably love the Mario, Tekken, Resident Evil and Gran Tourismo franchises but don't even realise they are from Japan. It's true the Japanese come up with some totally quirky games that don't translate well due to cultural differences. I'm happy to skim the cream off the top and leave the rest where it is. It was through playing great Japanese games that lead to me learning Japanese so I could understand what the heck was going on. And although I could reel off a list of many great games - I could probably spend just as long listing the real stinkers as well.

I wouldn't nessecarily agree that Japanese make the BEST games, that would be an insult to the hard work Western developers put in. Japanese have made certain genre's their own such as RPG and fighting.

I would say that the culture in Japan is very different, and gaming is not considered a bad influence or a waste of time, therefore it's a society very open to creating and playing games which is whyy we see so much output and love for games from Japan.

Japanese LOVE getting slogans in English. You small english catchphrases everywhere in Japan, it's "cool" or something.

Smart move..even though biohazard and final fantasy are ps3's support as well, this should attract japaneese gamers to realise..xbox360 also has their support..

Boy is microsoft being clever or not with advertisement..even though half of those games aren't going to be released anytime soon.

(Biohazard team hasn't even started on creating the game yet.. might only be released late 2007!!)

Dude, in japan gaming is seen as an all round entertainment..it's a normal and cool thing.. Only in usa and europe do some people see gaming for kids, for geeks or an unadult thing..

And don't get me started on korea..that land is just insane about gaming.

You really don't think microsoft hopes gamers would purchase the console with the hope they will be able to play those games?

It's not just brand awareness, it's a marketting ploy to trick consumers on purchasing the product.. That's why they never mention anything like all these games are coming soon on the ad.... sony's been doing it for years.
