Xbox 360 PS3

I guess we can now officially say that July is not a completely dead month for gaming news, and I'm sure you are as happy about this as I am. This time we get a brand new video of Tony Hawk's Project 8, and it looks like it's more or less completely ingame. I'm not as convinced with the animations as I was with the E3 trailer, but this is still a giant leap comparable to that horrible America Most Wanted game on 360.

This looks really, really good!!

I love the slowmotion parts, how the background get's blurred a bit, it looks amazing...

animations are a bit average without the slow motion, but im amazed how it looks so far!

I just hope for the lack of anything like bam margera, or anything gimmicky like that, and they need to take it back to the first two games without all that stuff... i think they are spot on so far, looks about skating, and skating only...

I wonder if they will have ads in the game. I hate how ads keep popping up everywhere...

Looks pretty decent..I don't care much that it's unrealistic--Tony Hawk games at their best were pretty damn unrealisitic. I hope there's not a ton of "bullet time" in game though--keep the pace plenty fast.

Seems they have completely removed the one feature that everyone was excited about; realistic animation.

Regardless of the graphics of this game, nothing will be better than Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 was on PSX. This game has gone completely downhill as a franchise and is so completely unrealistic now that it's to the point it's just so stupid. I turned of American Wasteland when they started teaching you how to wall run and do a back flip while running up a wall.

What the hell does that have to do with skateboarding? Not a damn thing.

And I agree with rupbert. The 10 second clip we saw of this game a while back looks a lot better than this trailer. This looks like nothing more than a higher resolution Xbox1 game. It even has a worse framerate than Wasteland.

Not to mention the Tony Hawk series has been so dumbed down now that it's so easy to pull of ridiculously long tricks giving you serious points.

Er, BlimBlim? I'm pretty sure it was 'American Wasteland' not 'American Most Wanted'.

Hmm, it seemed to me that in all of the tricks, the skaters feet never actually connected with the board.

Btw, I have never seen a black guy skateboarding before 0.o

It looks like I'll have to scratch another one off the list. That resembles nothing to the E3 trailer, when I watched the E3 trailer I though maybe this would be realistic (at least a little), and that the game had some great graphics. Looking this new trailer, things have changed.

The graphics do seem improved from AW, but does it really look all that good? If we take animations into graphics (which I think they are part of), I think this looks pretty bad. There are times when the guy is just floating in the air without a single movement, he's frozen in the air while the skateboard does all this moves and he just waits for it, frozen.

And the tricks seem to be as unrealistic as ALL Tony Hawk games were. For whoever said nothing will catch up with Tony Hawk 2, I really don't see the difference between that and this, if anything, this will be better.

And then the framerate, throughout the video it was low, really low.

Bah, it looks like they've done pretty much NOTHING other than ramp up the graphics for the next iteration of this game. What a shame that they still haven't bothered to try to improve the gameplay since the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
When are we going to see a skateboarding game that actually tries to use physics appropriately. WHere balance actually matters because the board isn't attached to the players feet by invisible strings.

Tony Hawk: American Wasteland is probably my most hated game for the 360. The game is boring, uninspired, offers nothing in terms of next gen gameplay and cashed in on the franchise fans.

It looks like project 8 follows the same story, moon gravity, invisible strings, unbelievable animation.

This game is definately a pass now, call me when someone actually starts to innovate in this genre.

Yeah, 8 years of good code, they kept all the crap. I still think nothing can beat Tony Hawk 2X for the Dreamcast.

This is what the Xbox version should have looked like 2 years ago, except with better animation.

They really need to give this IP to a new team, one who actually gives a shit about this franchise and wants to improve upon it not just feed off the name.
