Video PC Xbox 360 PS3

Codemasters released a new batch of images and a gameplay video of Operation Flashpoint: Red River. Let's hope this new episode will solve all the issues of the previous title.

This really ain't doing anything for me, it doesn't look anywhere near what OFP used to look like on PC , in terms of realism and what not.

Looks great. That's the problem with codemasters though, they release games that look great on the surface, but once you get beyond the surface you see a lot of little miggling flaws that prevent the games from being amazing.

OFP:DR could have been amazing if it was fixed but it was abandoned. F12010 could have been amazing too but lots of small flaws maek it fall short of the mark.

I don't know, what part about it looks great? After playing Dragon Rising, this thing could look like Crysis and play like the original OP Flashpoint, and I would still be skeptical. Hell, they reneged on damn near every promise they made for Dragon Rising, and then rather than fixing the issues, they just abandoned the game to start on this one. What would make you think this will be any better? Dragon Rising could have been one of the best games ever (imo), if they delivered what they promised (open world with battles raging, extensive vehicle and weapon variety, realistic tactics and gameplay, amazing graphics, long campaign etc, etc. Instead, we got a 4.5 hour, linear, scripted, and mostly timer based campaign, with terrible graphics, almost no variety, and "realism" that required up to 10 torso shots to down an enemy.

Don't get me wrong, tactical shooters are my favorite genre, I just haven't had a good one to play in like 5 years. This game looks like a dumbed down version of a pretty dumbed down game. I just don't really see anything to get pumped about here. Also, I am now thoroughly convinced that the EGO engine is incapable of making a non-racing game. The graphics in DR were some of the worst this gen, and this doesn't look much better. I don't understand how games like DIRT2 and DIRT3 can use this same engine and look gorgeous!

Wouldn't that make this the perfect game?

You're preaching to the choir Michael. I was gutted when Codies aborted support of OFP:DR.If they had only opened up the game for modding then guys like TemplarFX could made it great.

The environments look more varied and the effects look better but apart from that the game will no doubt be crippled by the Ego engines max entity limit and modding will be closed.
