Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Since we wanted to try out our new capture PC (which can record high quality PC footage on our second PC without risking to hit the game's performance), we launched the PC version of Far Cry 4 before heading straight to bed. Unfortunately, depsite our good rig (i5 4670K @ 4.0 GHz, 8 Go RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 Gigabyte OC), we haven't managed to reach a steady 60 fps even when turning down a few things. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the video anyway.

I always believed the engine in Watch Dogs and Unity on PC caused some massive issues.
But now you say Dunia, which ran fine in Far Cry 3, also can't hit steady 60fps on a high end rig?
I am really starting to doubt the Nvidia partnership with all the tech it adds...

FC4 looks way better than 3, so I guess you can't play with everything maxed out without consequences.

Could you get stable 60fps on low graphics or is it CPU limited?

I haven't had time to try really. I was busy finishing our Never Alone article which is due tonight at 3 am GMT+1. We'll keep you posted on FC4 though don't worry.

Allright thank you.
As many others I am really waiting for reviews, pre order was not an option after the last games.
But it looks great and totally bug free.

I believe there's a day 1 patch for PC or something?

Were you using the latest drivers?

There are videos on YT of people with 780Tis running the game @ 70fps average maxed out with SMAA.

sounds just like all Ubisoft titles, if you use the in game settings expect to get lower frame rates where as if you use the profiles in your graphics card settings and override the games settings you will get much better frame rates and still have either the same or better quality.

How did you get the game to run correctly with SLI? I thought the new drivers woudln't be out until later today?

I was yesterday evening, and the game was up to date.

Ultra with Very High shadows and SMAA for the most part of the video.

When I reached the path to the tower I even tried to set the environment quality to very high instead of ultra if I remember correctly.

The last part (village), textures were set to very high instead of ultra but it didn't make that much of a difference performance wise. I think I saw some stuttering.

Far Cry 3 was far from a well optimized game.
Games shouldn't run at 60 on any rig at max settings. Especially one with advanced effects like simulated fur, contact shadows, and huge open worlds.
Knock a couple of particular settings down and I'm sure it runs fine. Especially on recently released GPUs, which has more of what games coming out this generation are looking for.
I think it's hilarious watching everyone's worlds fall apart when their old PCs don't run new games.
This generation changed requirements for the performance we are used to in some significant ways.
You want better performance? Sacrifice fidelity. And please stop complaining about just released games with fresh (if any) driver.

Well the PC version is a bit of a mess for me. The game loses focus (as in, drops to a window) after about five minutes of play, like clockwork, and then it won't load at all until I reboot. I don't even know how they managed that. I don't wanna like, unfairly criticize Ubisoft though. Great port ;)

I bet running it in borderless fixes it, but then I can't g-sync.

EDIT: New driver may have helped. I actually finished a mission!

EDIT 2: LOL! Alt-tabbing crashed the game.

EDIT 3: Well I lasted longer than 10 minutes, but it's still losing focus and hanging :|

EDIT 4: Looking for updates. Udontplay.

you must be doing something wrong as there are plenty of videos on youtube where the game plays just fine, infact why didn't the game have the same problems here on gamersyde to what you are saying about your system!

Yes. I am the only person experiencing issues with this game.

And not that I need to prove anything to you, but every one of the other 78 steam games I have installed works fine. There are several others in the NeoGAF PC performance thread experiencing crashes too.. they also all have broken computers. I love other users that blame issues w/ buggy releases on other users. People even did this during the BF4 launch.

If there's some conflict this game has with my system, it is still the games fault. And for what it's worth, it works better in borderless windowed mode, but then I can't use g-sync. That's still shitty.

right, hows about you answer the question like a mature adult rather than diverting away from the fact the gamersyde video showed non of the faults you and all these other people are having, im sure this video on youtube is also fake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAc1RY1GEQc.

the conflict the game has with your system is no fault of game more about how you have it configured otherwise no one would be able to run the game, pretty simple logic there.

That's not logic it's one big ass fallacy. Computers are all different dude. They don't all have the same configurations that I do. Just because there's a conflict with a driver or a piece of software or hardware on my system, that does not make it a system/user error. People made this same (rather idiotic) claim about Battlefield 4 when it launched.

Just because it does work for some (or even many) people, that does not mean the game is not at fault.

Once again: How many of those people are using g-sync displays? The game works fine in borderless windowed mode. That is not an acceptable fix for me. And the game is failing on a lot of hardware, in configurations that should work. You are wrong.

I mean, really? You think this is logical? And you're an experienced PC user? What if there's a conflict with ASUS DGX+ sound cards? Would that be my computer's fault?

I can even alt-tab in and out of borderless mode.. but so much for g-sync.. I'm just going to play borderless and hope for a patch.. but I won't hold my breath.

And why the hell would I think that video is fake? lol..

because my friend you are looking for a scape goat, it cant possibly be your system or others like you who have a problem running the game to it has to be the game that is at fault not the hardware that it is running on!, so why are so many others Gamersyde included that "dont" have this issue, why is it they can run the game just fine and not report any issues at all, if their was really a problem with the game "everyone" would be having issues with it like they are with ACU but that simply is not evident so like i said you are just using the game as a scape goat rather than identifying where the real problem is!.

ok i have an answer for you and ill start by guessing you have an Nvidia graphics card (not assuming as assumption is the mother of all F ups) a few gamers have posted that drivers 344.75 when alt tabing out of games the games crash, now GriftGFX you said when you alt tab out of the game, the game crashes have you thought about using the older drivers like 344.65 and trying again, logic comes to the rescue yet again.

We're not using the same hardware. This isn't nearly as logical as you think. I wonder: will it still be the system's fault after a patch fixes it? Ya know.. if Ubisoft ever bothers to fix their games.

These errors aren't even uncommon.
