End of Abyss, which has been available for two weeks now, did not receive the reception some players and members of the press had hoped for upon its release. However, there’s no denying that it’s a game with a very polished aesthetic and atmosphere. This comes as no surprise, given that the team at Section 9 Interactive is made up of former developers from Tarsier Studios. In fact, it’s impossible not to notice the family resemblance when observing the animation of the heroine in this new title, which is, however, much more action-oriented than the Little Nightmares series. This twin-stick shooter was initially criticized for the repetitive nature of its gameplay loop and the lack of clarity in its map, but it also drew some negative comments due to a few technical issues. However, updates fixed some of these flaws just two days after its release, and the game is clearly in better shape today than it was on launch day. That said, not everything is perfect yet, as we still encountered a few visual bugs just a few days ago, not to mention that players are still complaining about how overly punishing the boss fights are—similar to those in Silksong in terms of resource management. While we haven’t played enough to give you an informed impression of the adventure as a whole, we can at least tell you that we were certainly impressed by the world it depicts and the overall atmosphere.
