The release of Samson wasn't without its share of problems, due to insufficient optimization and numerous bugs, but feedback from the press and players has also criticized the game's driving and melee combat mechanics. Admittedly, we only have a very limited view of the game given the little time we’ve been able to spend with it, but while we understand much of this criticism, we haven’t run into anything outrageous so far. Of course, it will take a number of updates to fix the issues and improve the overall experience, but for a game selling for $25/€25, there’s the potential here for a charming AA title in the style of the Xbox 360/PS3 era. The city is highly detailed and well-modeled, and even if it perhaps lacks a bit of life (and the local population lacks consistency in their movements to be fair), it nonetheless has a certain visual charm. The hero isn’t all that uninteresting either, and the voice actor does a pretty good job. We also didn’t find the driving to be any worse than in many games of this genre (and we include GTA 5, which disappointed us a lot in this regard back when it originally came out), but it’s true that the combat is still rather clunky, largely due to the lack of a lock-on system and a parry system that isn’t multidirectional. In short, it’s a very flawed game, riddled with issues, but it does have a certain charm at first glance, but don't mistake it for a GTA-like. We recommend, however, that you be patient and wait to see how it develops before diving in.
