GSY Video PC

After one year of early access, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is now fully available. We've already shown you the game when it was in development, so here are a few more videos of the final release. All videos were captured in 1440p. The few frame drops you might see are due to Mirilis Action, which is quite capricious with this game it seems.

Thanks for making these videos. I was waiting for them after hearing Larian Studios sent you guys a code during the WRC 7 livestream. I and I'm sure many people appreciate them.

Shame on you guys for not even asking Larian Studios for a code. Thankfully they sent one anyways, but if they hadn't, you guys would have missed one of the best games of the year - 2nd best reviewed game of 2017 so far.

Please keep in mind that you don't always need to love a game or genre to give a little bit of coverage. Just play for 30-60 minutes in order to capture a few videos and you're done. If you don't like the game, you can stop playing after that.

Which begs the question, is anyone on the team interested in keep playing D:OS2?

Somehow better? It looks better in pretty much every conceivable way!

Original Sin is a great game though. Very nice gameplay and game design.

Yes a friend got it and we are playing in on local coop at his house and this game improve on the first one so much more. Story and writing is much more better. Origin characters are fun to play. More races to pick (undead is fun) and they improve the combat with adding height advantage and better point system.

I want to buy it, but I'm to low on money. Glad my friend got it though..

From Swen Vincke, Founder of Larian Studios and Director of both Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2:

"If better games mean better sales (which intuitively seems right, even if there are counterexamples) then it makes good sense to adopt the following strategy:

make a good game, use the opportunities (both technically and financially) created by that good game to make the next game even better.

Repeat. Enjoy increasing sales."

Perfect example of that philosophy is Divinity: Original Sin 2, and how Larian Studios used the opportunities (technically and financially) acquired through Divinity: Original Sin 1's success both critically and comercially to make Divinity: Original Sin 2 a better game than Divinity: Original Sin 1 is.

Another thing to note from an interview with Swen Vincke by Gamasutra:

Question by journalist: "It was an interesting business decision to give the Enhanced Edition away to people who already own the original version on PC. Why did that make sense for you to do that."

Answer by Swen Vincke: "You have to see that for us, this was a new game on console, then obviously you could reverse the port and bring it back to PC. So we had to think about what to do for the existing customers who have already bought Original Sin. Those are the same guys who make a lot of stuff possible for us—so are we really going to charge them for a vastly enhanced edition of the game, even though there’s a lot of investment that went into it?

Since we already recuperated on the console market, we figured that would be too much, charging existing customers full price. We’re not really fans of DLC and upgrades, so you know what? We just made this for a new audience [on consoles], and we’ll also give it to our fans, and hopefully they’ll appreciate it, play it again, and help us out when the next game comes out."

Below is the link to another great interview with Swen Vincke by GamesIndustry.biz:

GamesIndustry.biz - Larian Studios: "Failure is important for creativity":

Needless to say this is one of the "good guys" in the Games industry - a.k.a. not a greedy bastard - and he and Larian Studios deserve people's support if they can afford it and want to help a good developer studio be more and more successful and release more excellent games.

PS. If anyone needs any convincing of how good the Divinity: Original Sin games are, just read NeoGAF user's "Fantastapotamus" review:

"Here is my review:

I turned a giant green poison lizard into a chicken and it ran into a puddle of electrified water and died

That's pretty much all you need to know"

What is wrong with you?
That's my question to you.

Because we are in a Gaming site, specifically in the Divinity: Original Sin 2's news thread, where I posted things relevant to the game and the developers:

1) the discussion of D:OS2 being better than D:OS1 - which is in accordance with the developers' philosophy of trying to make their next game better than the last,
2) an example that the developers didn't charge customers again for a vastly improved Enhanced Edition of the game,
3) interviews that show that the developers are nice people and deserving of people's support,
4) review of a user who was explaining something unique to the game and one of the things that players can do in the game that almost no other game allows.

All of which might prove helpful for someone who don't know about the game or franchise, is on the fence trying to decide whether or not to buy D:OS2, or if they should buy it now or wait in case the developers decide to release a Enhanced Edition of it later - which if they do, it would most likely be free for existing users.

In other words, I'm hoping I can convince more people to research about the game or even buy the game based on its quality and the developers' reputation.

And what have you done?

Insulted me for no reason whatsoever. And didn't even care enough to comment on the game, the franchise or even the developers.

Now ask yourself this, would you prefer a site full of users like you who insult other people for no reason whatsoever and contribute nothing to the conversation, or a site with people who post about the game they like, try to advance the conversation and leave knowledge that might help someone decide to buy the game or at least make them interested enough in the game that they might decide to want to know more about it to see if it's a game they might like?

It wasn't an insult. Posting quotes from different sources, to advertise this game, to get people to but the game, in a very long post after you already posted yoir opinion, is weird to me in a comment section.
it's like he's a wannabe PR guy just gagging for some game publisher to notice.

notice me senpai!

I read his 2 comments and found them very informative and, which is a rare thing on the internet nowadays, very positive.
Straight after Sdarts second comment things went toxic again, but that probably was to be expected. Well, I will get back to lurking....

Ontopic: I am so going to buy this game.

As should we all! This really seems like one of 2017's gems. And I'd be worried about it flying under the radar but its performing way better than I expected on Steam. Especially for a game that just launched out of an early access period.
