The Evil Within being available on most platforms, we captured the beginning of the adventure on PC, with the original 30 fps frame rate. We did try Bethesda's tip to unlock the game at 60 but it never seemed to work as the frame rate kept going above 70/80, with noticeable slowdowns on our PC running with a GTX 970. This new title by one of the fathers of survival horror may not be a tech feast, but its great art style and frightening atmosphere makes us want to play more. Beware though, as this is pretty hardcore. You'll die a lot, you'll have to play through entire areas again because of the old school save system, but you'll eventually come back for more.

I guess i know who'll be playing as this guy when the movie comes out.
I'm sure the game will have its fans though, I mean even Shadows of the Damned had fans and that was painful for me to play. But The Evil Within has convinced me that Mikami had very little to do with how awesome RE4 was.

And even Shadows of the Damned (which was pretty good) is far better than RE6.

The graphic is not in the top class but is still ok to most of the people
Yes there are some pop-out of the missing shadow or the low resolution in the far distance. But the atmosphere is great
And the framerate is solid according to my play during chap 1&2, not sure whether I'll encounter the frame drop in the future chapters
The gameplay is well designed, it's easy to feel that the whole system is made by the experienced team.
Everything together just makes you feel that this is the true form of resident evil which Shinji Mikami wants to deliver

It sucks that you have to use the dev console to set those parameters (unlock FPS, remove borders), which in turn disables Steam achievements for that session.
aaaand.. I was just reading this old thread: http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t...
Which makes me think that inspector is probably as bad as anything else.
