The Forest has been made available on Steam for those willing to have early access to the Alpha version of the game. There are obviously quite a good number of bugs and glitches but it should give you an idea as to what to expect anyway. You play the role of a man whose plane has just crashed and whose kid (?) has been kidnapped by the locals. The odd thing is that before the crash, he and the child were the only passengers in the plane, which seems to indicate there's some kind of mystery going on. Once on the island, he will have to organize himself in order to survive the deadly conditions, which means feed himself, stay dry and avoid the locals at all costs.
Note: The frame drops you can see are due to the capture.

Wonderful game. As long as they continue to polish this game up until release it's going to be amazing.

i see there are still quite a few bugs but the main issue for me is the melee combat where the axe does no damage at all, quite a lot more work needed but ok for now.

Quite a big update just came out, fixes a number of bugs, I played it on day one when I bought it but now will happily wait a few weeks for it to receive more polish, and hopefully a bow and arrow!

I love this game. There isn't much to it yet and plenty of bugs but what is there is so fun to play around with. Definitely worth 15 dollars while I watch them polish it over time.

Agreed. Visuals are good, but that melee combat. Wow. Looks terribly contrived and weak. And not sure how I feel about a game that looks realistic and then has a tree that magically splits itself. Especially after you hack away at it forever just to get it to fall. Getting mixed signals.
