I remember trying to get into this on the PS2, but I never understood the hype. It has nice character designs (in 2D), but the 3D stuff is truly hideous (both env art and characters). The game itself is a mix of very, very lengthy, mostly static and brain destroyingly dull cut scenes, and tedious dungeon crawling.

To cap it all, there's no Japanese language track, forcing you to play with the shockingly bad heavily Americanised 'English' dub. You'd have thought given the very obviously Japanese setting, that leaving it in Japanese might have made A LOT MORE SENSE. But no, dubbed only, and done so badly I had to mute the sound after a while.

Now I love a good JRPG, but the Persona games are just cheap, repetitive dungeon crawlers.

Persona 3 is one of only like, 3 JRPG's i've managed to get some enjoyment out of. So i'll probably give this one a shot. Plenty of bang for your buck at the very least.

i don't understand this mindset, when the game is keep the same.

the persona 3 portable it trully The hideous hackjob, on a console that should be capable of a true port with the same or almost the same 3d assets, and what was done was a complete downgrade of stuff and remaking 3d assets to 2D crap segments. like you were converting a game from the home console wii to a very underpowered POS that was the DS or something. Now that is hideous and they shoulda soulda sold shit with that poor effort.

Persona 4 is without doubt one of, if not the, best jRPG in recent time. The story, characterization and social sim aspect of the game, coupled with a fairly strategic combat system and the persona collecting just blows all other bullshit out of the water. If you let the fact that the graphics are maybe a bit unremarkable stop you form having an enjoyable experience then frankly, you deserve FFXIII :P

This. Unfortunately I got busy with Finals at the time and had to put my playthrough on hold. Never got back into it :(.

Looks incredibly dull and boring. I'm torn apart by extremely positive reception and inability to accept this type of games.
