GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Star Wars Battlefront is now available on EA Access so here are a few gameplay videos of the final version of the game. We have included a GSY Tech video on Endor to see how framerate reacts in a vastly detailed environment.
Update : Added two new videos in Squadron Mode and one focused on fps analysis.

was sure the speeder bikes would be on rails, good to see they're not...although are they only restricted to that wave based mode? looks like the arcade game - stuck to a linear path. Hope they're also part of the big online battles

The assets, textures and lighting all look great. I definitely feel the resolution doesn't do the visuals justice however.

There's a noticeable difference when you switch from 30 to 60 fps in the videos, so I'm guessing it's 60fps.

Even so, and I'm not usually one to complain about resolution, to have this at 720p is shocking. I mean, seriously, no doubt the game looks superb, and they've nailed the visual style of Star Wars, but for fuck sake, what makes it even worthwhile releasing systems almost 10 years on over the previous ones, if they aren't even doing anything that looks that much more demanding yet still have the same resolution? The more this gen goes on, the more obvious of a massively disappointing flop it becomes. Then again, I did expect games would start dropping resolution or fps in favour of visuals, but not to the point where it almost becomes a last gen feature.

Agreed man. There are huge disappointmnents in this gen so far, but also great things and upcoming great things from both companies.

Next year Quantum Break should prove to be a damn fine looking game and is 1080p. Uncharted 4 will undoubtedly look superb and is 1080p. Crackdown with the awesome destruction should be really nice as well.

This seems to be what they've gone for since battlefield 4. 720p on xbone, 900p on PS4. Which is why i'm dissapointed that after over 2 years, a drop in player count from 60 to 40 and WAY less vehicles and carnage going on, they'd have been able to hit 1080p on PS4 and 900P on xbone. But i guess not.

To be fair, I think this looks quite a lot better than BF4. In fact, I think it is one of the best looking games on either system. 720p is too low though, maybe they should have dialled back some effects? Even seeing the 900p the PS4 version runs out makes a pretty noticible difference here.

I just can't help but be disappointed by this game. The landscapes are nice but there is a lack of detail overall. Everything I've seen so far looks incredibly boring and like not much is going on in the game. The sense of scale/size just isn't there in missions like escorting the AT-AT. The pop-in is just absolutely terrible, especially in the canyon. 720p.... What in hell is going on with this new console generation? It's like I'm reliving last gen all over again. Am I being too harsh? Why did they even bother releasing new consoles and charging 4-500 dollars? They could have done most of what I see on last gen, just cut the frame rate to 30fps and I can totally see this on the 360 or PS3, and at the same resolution!

It seems that you are never happy with any game. You always find something to complain about and you also are very demanding on consoles that are extremely under powered. Maybe if these new consoles were priced the same as the PS3 was when it released ,you would have seen better graphics and resolution. The next gen low prices had a sacrifice and that was the hardware. Maybe we will see a slight increase in graphics when they finally drop last gen but right now companies want to cash out on all consoles so who knows when that will be.

Yeah, I think you are tripping. This game looks a long way above last gen games visually. It is the 720p which brings the visuals down quite drastically in my opinion. Endor especially.

This has a lot to do with player count. Large player count games are typically more demanding. Show me a game last generation with 40 players. The game is doing more and on a level that you're not appreciating. Show me another current generation game with 40-64 players that's running better.

Tbh, i'm not TOO disapointed by the way this looks on PS4 at least (although i am disapointed by its lack of pregression after over 2 years). Its the gameplay i'm the most unhappy with. The beta was boring and these missions look boring. Having better specs in some hypothetical machine wouldn't change that sadly.

Same, i pretty much regret getting PS4 except for getting exclusives that i love. Luckily i'm getting this on Redbox to see if it's worth the $60 (most likely not) and i'll wait for a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal.

The game itself is very simplistic without adding too much (maybe there will be more in the Season Pass?) which can turn some people off.

That's absolutely true... and the cap between the One's 720p version and the 4K/ ultra settings on a PC is HUGE. It feels like two different games... But is that surprising? I guess not, cause a high-end PC costs about 7-times more than the One.

Endor Chase looks really amazing. Overall this is a blast, graphically. I don't know, why to dig into this and that and resolution higher and lower....game is like this, buy it or leave it. Because I don't think they fucked this game up. It's fun, it's beautiful and that's all we need from a video game.

Are the battles bigger on PC or the same 40 players? That actually feels like a design choice to cater to casuals. It's not about limitations IMO.

Not distinctly true, though. I've played the beta on my PC, which by now is a modest rig that I built a few years ago before the consoles came out. In fact, before the specs were even touted. It performed much better than expected for me, and not much different than what BF4 does. It ran the beta between 50-60 fps constant at a higher resolution than 900p and that's with the game with all the features turned up to maximum, so...

Regardless, other than what looks to be a more advanced indirect lighting, someone please point out what this game is supposed to be doing more than BF4 is, which has a high player count and is running on the same tech.

BF4 doesn't run better than SWBF on the same hardware.. so what's your point?

I have EA Access, and have metered my playing the game to about 1.5 hours per night, till the official launch on Tuesday. After playing about 3 hours... The solo play in the Waves mode is OK, I seemed to have liked it better in the Beta because it was new (15 waves seems a bit long)

I did play some Cargo gametypes, last night and I enjoyed the heck out of it. It is a fun game style (CTF). I wish this generation on Xbox One was more into using headsets. No one seems to talk or use headsets, which makes strategy a non-starter.

Graphically, 720p doesn't seem to phase me much. The details on Endor could be better. The other maps look pretty darn good. There is a Tatooine map I played and it had some canvas structures that were blowing in the wind, that didn't look realistic, but that is getting nitpicky. I think that SW Battlefront is graphically the best game going on Xbox One, 720p or not. I would rather see smooth 720p than more detailed but slower frame rates at 1080p.

I did play SW Battlefront Beta on PC as well as Xbox One. At 1080p on PC, on an NVIDIA 970, it looks spectacular in the beta, but the Xbox one, wasn't far behind. I opted for the Xbox One version, because playing on my PC in the living room with a KB/mouse setup is a bit clunky, and when I played with an Xbox controller, I was getting my ass kicked by KB/mouse players on PC, so I opted for XB one, where I can at least hold my own.

I'm digging it and look forward to spending more time with it this weekend.
On a side not, I'm not sure what they inserted into SW mythology another desert planet Jakuu, into SW Battlefront and Force Awakens, already having Tatooine. Why not something more alien, like Pandora in Avatar? Was it that they wanted all practical effects/environment this time around? Jakuu and Tatooine are redundant to me in SW Battlefront IMO. I think Sullust is interesting though.
