PGR4: Snowy gameplay

As a way to help you wait for the return of our Mass Effect videos, here is a bit more gameplay of Project Gotham Racing 4 I had filmed last week during the game's presentation. Looks like it's a tad slippery!
Update: Second video from this presentation is now online, this time in Quebec. Also some informations on how the corners are now done in the city compared to PGR3.

Hu, looks sweet. This is gonna push the standart in racing games for grafx and athmosphere... at least I hope so. PGR4 looks very cool to me. Hope GT5 is gonna be at least as good as this (yeah, sorry, I'm a PS3-owner) ^^
But if I had a 360, this I would buy!! Cool game.

Way better that Pgr3, no doubt. To bad there is no (visible) interaction between tires and road, snow. Otherwise is nearly perfect.

Lol Nürburgring with snow, that's just pure suicide! Looks like it's rapping up to be a really nice game, but i'm not going to buy it. Not for full price at least. I mean i've owned PGR3 and found the singleplayer lacking of any goal, and offcourse you can't modify and tune cars witch i really missed.

when will people stop maoning about 30fps? its more than enough, even before they added blurring to make it appear smoother

30fps is great

60fps is a luxury

hehe, nice finding.

normally that will not matter, 'cause you will not see both mirrors at the same time. but it'll be really strange to drive with mirrored mirrors :)

The sense of speed is superb. I genuinely feel scared for the driver when doing powerslides through the snow at 150mph in such a fragile looking shell.

Weird about the mirrors, but in normal cars you only see the rearview mirror when racing and a tiny bit of the side mirror so they can use the same reflection slightly offset for the left side mirror.

As for the FPS, 30fps in PGR3 coupled with motion blur gives a sensation of around 40-45fps. Of course its not as smooth as true 60fps but in return you get higher quality graphics which is a big deal in a game like this (non-simulation).

The weather effects and track detail are friggin insane. It seems like developers are truly starting to unlock the potential of this console. I had my doubts about next generation this time last year, but after playing Bioshock, and seeing trailers for games like COD4, PGR4, Mass effect I have to keep picking my jaw up off the floor.

360 is a damn beast and PGR4 is one of the best looking games I've ever seen.

edit: i would love to see Bizarre have a go at a proper sim mode, even if just a special mode on a special track, just to see what they could do, theyre seriously talented bunch of devs, be interesting to see what theyd produce

ediedit: BlimBlim, how does the falling snow and rain look? the snow looks very very good in these videos, the rain is hit or miss, but since youve seen it up close, did they nail what is a difficult effect to get right?

Yeah man, I noticed that on th first gameplay vid I saw. The left mirror was showing the right side od the track. Havent watched the vids yet (still downloading). Thats crazy they havent fixed it yet. Wont matter to me though, I play in 3rd person. Still sucks though.

3rd person??!? who the hell plays racing games in external view, its horrendous, you cant aim the car accurately enough into corners etc, bonnet or incar view is the only way to play
