Trailer PC PS4

Crytek has announced that its virtual reality game Robinson: The Journey will be a PlayStation VR exclusive title. After crash-landing on a mysterious planet, players will uncover its secrets. First glimpse with the trailer after the jump.

Sony and Crytek Collaborating to Bring "Robinson: The Journey" Exclusively to PlayStation VR

CRYENGINE Unleashed for PlayStation VR

Frankfurt, Germany – October 27, 2015 – Combining the breathtaking immersion made possible by PlayStation VR and the game-changing power of CRYENGINE, Crytek today announced a partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring new IP “Robinson: The Journey” exclusively to the upcoming PlayStation®4 virtual reality platform.

Developed by Crytek, Robinson: The Journey invites players to become pioneers as they crash-land on a mysterious planet and set out to uncover the rich secrets it conceals. The game is being crafted to capitalize on the boundless potential of PlayStation VR, and will empower gamers to explore the stunning world around them with an entirely new degree of freedom. The cooperation between Sony and Crytek also underscores the versatility of CRYENGINE for other developers looking to unleash their ideas on powerful VR hardware.

Crytek’s Director of Production, David Bowman, said: “PlayStation VR is the ideal platform for Robinson: The Journey. Our work with Sony so far has made it clear that they want to deliver the most immersive and unique home VR experiences imaginable to gamers, and we’re working hard to make sure Robinson fits that description perfectly.”

Looks like Crysis 3 on PC with PBS and new lighting and fog tech. The physics is even more accurate. Of Course the Animations are backed.

Hold on, exclusive? Wasn't this game revealed and showed as an Oculus game?

If only they made it a open world sci fi shooter with dinosaur planet like this one, i would totally buy this.
But since its VR, no thank you.

It was an Oculus tech demo.
Here we go again, platform corporations pushing potentional consumers away via exclusivity. No greater good. No just cause. Only for an upper hand in VR rush.

You must not have had a great experience with VR as using a Rift DK2 has blown my mind on many games. Done right, VR kicks the shit out of traditional displays.

was. they've now partnered with sony. i loved the premise. but honestly, i don't expect any VR game to look this good. but then again they made the best looking xbone game to date at launch....2 years ago, so anything's possible i guess.

Yeah, either way they won't disappoint on visuals with this. Still, the graphics in this trailer would be just about the best looking thing out there. In fact, looks almost as good as Jurassic World to me haha

Noticing a theme for PS4 exclusives, Wild, Boundless, Horizon & this. They are all very similar.

I don't believe for a second it will look like this on PS4. Rendering 2x60fps with these graphics? Nope. BTW: Ryse didn't even run at a stable 30fps.
i know, it was horrific. but they pushed the hardware to the limit 2 years ago and i'm yet to see anything better tbh. shitty framerate or not.

The order looks better imho. But that doesn't have big setpieces. Anyhow, for VR you need 120fps to have a good experience with low latencies and frame times. I don't think any console can do that with these graphics. On PC perhaps with a beast of a rig.
i was talking about xbox.

and the console doesn't need 120. it needs 60. the other 60 are "faked"

Has anyone said this is in game? I got the impression it was very much NOT. Seems like they just used the CryEngine to make a CG trailer.

I'm 100% sure that it's actually in-engine and in real time. Although those animations are obviously pre-cached. No doubt this would be running on a 'beefy' rig and put together as a conceptual tech demo of sorts. The PS4 version won't be anywhere near this. Though, it's still amazing what modern engines are capable of, even on modest hardware. Even mobile as proven with Unreal. If the PS4 version gets close to this with VR and all, that's not too shabby.

Found a video of a different demo of it on Youtube. It's definitely real time.

I think they're moving through the platforms to see if they find success...it'll be Wii-U next...ok maybe not.

Remember that Deep Down trailer Sony showed in 2013 when they revealed PS4 before E3? Well, look again at those screens that came later...while game is STILL in development. Also, that one had been on closed spaces, unlike this one. So, go figure. ;)

PS: that level of AA in PS4 game? No way. Mind you, Order had to make many compromises to look that good - fps, resolution, lack of dynamic lightning etc. But this one is for VR. I mean, look at graphics in Oculus games. And those are for PC.

People whine about the fact that there are no major exclusives for either console and then they whine when a game is exclusive. Screw those other consumers, they've done nothing for me. Bubble approves (Y)
