I'd say the PC look better than the console ones, if only by a marginal amount. There's definitely more detail no surprise there, but I don't think I'll be missing out on too much playing on a console. :)

OR... let's hope it's not a crappy PC port, where the interface is poor and cryptic, the performance is bad and it's bug-riddled. :p

Seriously, people need to get over these unfounded stereotypes and prejudices they keep trying to push.

It definitely looks sharper and more detailed than the console shots. The implementation of mouse and keyboard controls will be the clincher for me though. The two previous MP games worked brilliantly with them, hopefully Rockstar realise not all PC gamers want a default 360 setup.

It is a misconception that "ports" from console are somehow inhibiting PC games, perpetuated by people who generally don't own both and don't know all of the issues involved in any platform's development.

As a person that's worked on and shipped games on practically every platform known to man, I can tell you that I've never "held back" or "nerf'd" a PC version of the game in favor of something a console could or couldn't do. Actually, it's quite the contrary. I usually spend a lot of time trying to get the "powerful" platform to play nice and reach parity with the "inferior" platform.

Tons of console-to-PC ports are plagued with horrific UI issues or a complete lack of configuration options. Some of these issues are technical, some of them are by design. Hell, some of these issues are apparent in games that previously used the PC as their lead platform (Call of Duty, Crysis, etc).

Press start to begin, yo.

These stereotypes are based in reality, and R* has a history.

What? Prejudice? Games that are ported from console to PC (Called Console ports because they are ports of console games, made for the consoles and then brought to the PC) are regularly shittier than pure PC games. Look at Kingdoms of Amular. The interface was just as clumsy and crummy and Mass Effect original style. Then look at Dragon Age Origins. The interface was completely redone for the PC.
And Rockstar has released mutliple ports that at best were barely playable. I can play the Crysis games at max settings and get good framerates. GTA IV doesn't play unless it's running 1024x768 or lower and all the other settings all the way down. And even then I get framerate issues. Add that to the terrible helicopter controls, and the massive number of glitches that the PC port shipped with, you need to shut the fuck up and think for god's sake. It's called history. You can look at the proof. If the problem is console UI on a PC game, then yeah, CONSOLE PORTING IS THE PROBLEM. If the game was made for consoles and then brought to PC as a secondary platform, then yeah CONSOLE PORTING IS THE PROBLEM. Cause you know what? Games that lead on PC are pretty great on PC.

Well it's hardly stereotyped or unfounded, considering that at this late stage of a console gen, a pretty decent PC worth it's salt can be roughly 10 times the power of a console. I think it's fair to say that a console "port" to PC should at least be expecting 60 fps and above at 1080p and above resolution with a nice dose of AA and other nice features as standard. Is that a fair thing to expect? I think so.

Realistically speaking, when R* ported GTA 4 to the PC, a game that should have ran, looked, and played better simply didnt. I have a computer that plays BF3 max settings @1080p resolution smoothly. GTA4 with the latest patches still runs like shit.

When they ported L.A. Noire, there was issues reguarding a framerate, that was capped at 30fps, and limited graphics options, no matter what your PC build was.

Its safe to hope that maybe they will have some love for the PC version of this game, as wasnt it where the Max Payne franchise started? I think it was.

Anyways. Period, point-blank....console to PC ports in the recent few years, have not been all that great. It was just 3-4 years ago when a mojority of developers would develop for the PC, and port to the consoles. Seeing as how console gaming has a much more robust install base as far as mainstream games go (discluding MMO), its all about the money. PC gaming is a dying trend, developers konw this, and they are putting the money into the machines that they can get the most money back from, which is 360/PS3.

Im sure you all can remember when PS3 launched, all the shitty ports it got. It took almost 3 years before developers decided to actually develop for the PS3 itself instead of building on 360, and moving it to PS3. But then again, developers did that because 360 had a bigger install base, and they could sell more copies on that system.

So is that why there is no FOV-options, botched UI:s, low res textures, weird mouse acceleration in a lot of ports? Just cause you work with games doesn't mean the rest of us are blind to this sort of stuff.
