it's not like prey is some uber franchise that sells games on name alone. they're simply making use of their assets.
It's a Dishonored thing though. That game really made this style popular even though Bioshock came first

It has wonderful characters. Like really wonderful characters. But.. yeah.
Bioshock 1 was pretty great.

I think Bioshock 1 was better than any of the sequels by far. Mostly because the theme was more consistent and better thought out.
That aside, yes, this seemingly has nothing to do with prey...other than like...maybe gravity? Gravity was a thing in Prey, right? Then again, the narrative aspect of the original game was perhaps not begging for a continuation either. Even if i remember the game as being decent.

According to Bethesda Softworks they did acquire the IP, scrapped everything and made it into a "Reboot".
"The new Prey is not a true sequel but instead a "a reimagining of the IP", according to Colantonio."
"This version of Prey came out of Arkane Studio's own ideas;"

Like i said - "that's like going out of your way to acquire Starbucks and turning into a burger joint."
The game has tenacity but they could have simply created this without even needing the trademark. you could re-imagine anything on your own when it's not connected to something original. no trademark purchase necessary.
"Realizing that coming up with a name for a new property can be difficult, and that through Bethesda that they would have the ability to use that name, they opted to go with calling the game Prey."
"Bethesda's vice president of marketing Pete Hines explained that the new game has no elements from the cancelled Prey 2 outside of the player facing against aliens."

So pretty much they had issues finding a name for this game, and as mentioned neither game has a real connection to each other....so they could have done this without the trademark. they just couldn't think of a better name other than "Prey".
it's more like buying starbucks on the basis of serving starbucks coffee... finding out people don't like the taste of the coffee and then opening a new starbucks with a "new taste".
it's still a sci-fi FPS involving aliens. it's a loose connection, but it isn't like they made a kart racer and called it PREY. lol
I'm assuming this is from the console version because of the jaggies; nothing at all to do with video compression. That's what I'd like to see fixed. You need to spend a lot on a PC to get the kind of image quality you are talking about (Resolution vs AA vs Performance).
Must be lonely up there... :P
