Xbox 360 PS3

Ubisoft sent us this first developer diary of Prince of Persia, and as usual it's a quite interesting watch!

The game looks great and all, but the combat seems to be always one on one which sucks alot, especially with so much combat and acrobatic moves the prince has.

I just hope it doesnt get repetitive in the combat.

And for the love of god, add more weapons!

They still didn't find out about how bad the Prince sounds I guess.

Such a shame.

Totally agree! I always loved hopping from one enemy to another, wallrunning/jumping in between, etc. It worked really well and I'm absolutely puzzled as to how they came to this weird conclusion that only fighting one enemy at a time is more fun or something?!

We'll see though...

I didn't want to bring it up again...but yeah.
Let's face it, they are not gonna change it no matter how much we ask for it.

Prince of Persia is about the story as much as it is about the combat.
And each cutscene and all will be showned with the prince and Elika talking, is gonna be VERY annoying!

Ben said giving us new weapons and all that is too much "RPG" element to it, and they don't want us to go and find items and weapons from different locations.
They want us to be in a one way journey with the same thing we got from the beginning to end.

Freaking stupid!

I REALLY hope the whole "accessable" crap is gone. I don't want it to hold my hand and be super easy. The other games were hard, sure, but I kinda like it. Made me feel accomplished when I got to the next part.

I actually prefer it..

it just means alot of puzzles and acrobat moves you would need to do, no need to worry about enemies after you land from a flip to the ground.

It could mean, once you go complete a puzzle with some insane manuevers, you confront a boss like character, you can't just beat him with random hack and slash, but need to use strategy and teamplay to defeat him.

Personally i like it

Splicer...they could easily add both types.

Have both mini bosses and small group of enemies now and then coming at you.

That's the good part, makes it challenging and need to focus on what to do.

They think that just ebcause they got good artistic approach they can get away with the MAIN gameplay mechanics...sorry Ubi, that is not how it works.

I like Prince of Persia as a whole, and the artistic view is good, but I am not happy with what it is turning out to be.
I hope they show more variety in terms of ganeplay mechanic, enemies...etc. if they want me to buy this title.

i just think they are focusing more on what made prince of persia so great in the first place, i'm talking the original prince of persia, it was all about the environment and puzzles, then you and random enemies, not hordes of them.

and if you notice, this prince of persia battlesystem is different, alot of teamwork with the magic girl, and its alot of camerawork and story driven, makes you feel like you are playing a persian story

checking out the video you can see the roof run is pretty cool and alot of wall jumping, climbing, swinging and using the environment to get to places is back, getting rid of hordes of enemies lets you enjoy this part more, and when you are up against an enemy, it's like a fighting game, soul calibur or so, big moves, great camera work just epic.

I think the whole approach gives you a mythical feel and if they can pull it off, might change the way platform games are made, could turn out to be a better way to tell a story. Games are becoming like movies, without a good story in the first place, no amount of action or enemies will save it

A demo would need to be played though, i'm sure TGS will answer everything in more detail

But Sands of time (accoding to alot of people) was great, and it's from the same people.

I still say more weapons for variety...atleast weapons if they don't want more enemies at the same time.

Prince is obviously Spider-Man now with the ceiling thing.
