Reminds me a bit of the screens from Clive Barker's Jericho.

Will there be any other enemies? I can't remember seeing any others.

these screens look a whole lot like condemned 2 i think? :P
Anyways, i tried the demo of FEAR when it was new and i thought it sucked (the ai was laughable at best), so i never played the whole game...maybe it's time i tried it again, as i assume it's gotten a few updates :P

Yeah the demo was terrible but the full game is awesome, and the ai is fantastic, one of the few games i have played where the enemy knows how to work as a group.

That's because they use the same engine. Anyway, visuals are meh right now, but they still have time to use better textures/up the polygon count.

I hope it won't be as ridiculously spec hungry as the original was for the time. Going by the screens and movies I've seen, a machine that can run something like Far Cry or HL2 at top settings should hopefully be able to handle this comfortably.

Alas, for us PC owners we'll probably need a sodding quad core and an 8800 Ultra.

Looking forward to it though, there hasn't been a shooter since that can match the thumping impact of juggling FEAR's enemy soldiers into the air with the trusty old shotgun and bullet time combo.

Seriously? Come on now.. FEAR looked awesome on an AMD 3200+ with a sodding 6800GT, and it ran comfortably well too. I suspect the system reqs for this game won't be far above the originals. The PC system req myth continues--this game will probably run really well on a reasonably fast CPU with a 7900 (or even a 7600) or an X1900.

I think I was running it on a P4 3.6ghz at the time with a 512mb radeon x1900 and 2gigs of ram. It still stuttered quite a lot.

Oh well, hopefully my core 2 3ghz and 8800gtx can spank this one's arse till its black and blue.

I remember that FEAR run smoothly with my XP2000+ and 6600GT and not as smooth or good looking but mighty playable with XP1600+ and R9550.

I guess people need to run their games on ultra settings or bust. I still think that Crysis or Call of Duty 4 look pretty great on their medium/high settings. Medium level settings in many games is actually quite nice looking, and PC games were designed to scale. So you can't run every game over a three year period on high/ultra.

I'm guessing (an educated guess) that the system md99 has described will push Project Origin to its limits.. but don't be afraid to mess with your settings until you reach your desired level of performance. For many gamers, performance comes before eye candy.

Yep there is usually perfectly fine settings for older hardware. I was quite impressed how long my 6600GT lasted or well it's still in the use and I like to test how it runs newer games. I think my CPU was limiting my system more than GPU...

Yes Crysis is really good looking on medium settings and that game let's you tweak the settings really nicely.

I think you can play 2-3 years when you get a new PC, maybe even more. There is going to be sacrifices for graphics but good thing there is usually a lot more in the game than that :)

Why not call this FEAR 2? I would've never guessed it was a sequel since I didn't play the original.

Just what I was thinking.. I was under the impression the original was rather popular. Changing the name seems like an odd marketing decision.

For those not in the know, VU owns the trademark to FEAR while Monolith retains control of characters/setting from FEAR. So they can make a sequel to FEAR but cannot title it FEAR.

Hmmm... If you watch the trailer with these dudes in it you'll see its not all that close... Much creepier... It just looks similar because of the engine.

In the demo the AI was fully and completely retarded. I was for example standing behind a wall, peeking out to shoot my stupid foes who did the exact same thing, only they stuck their heads out one at a time so that i could comfortably execute every last stupid fucker at my own leisure. Then the demo ended. Hardly good AI in my book. But i've heard so much good about it that i'm prepared to give the full version a try.

Hmm, is this the game that had a teaser released a very long time ago but then involved robots/mechanical enemies? It looked stunning and if this is the same game then I'm slightly disappointed.

Won't give up though if it's anything like F.E.A.R.

While the original F.E.A.R. was a decent game, although with a storyline pieced together from movies like The Ring, I would freaking kill for a new NOLF game. NOLF2 is in my opinion one of the most overlooked FPS of it's day and hopefully much like Bioshock was a bit of a vindication for System Shock 2, perhaps a new NOLF game can be for the series as a whole. Besides, with Project Origin it's starting to look more like an offshoot of Condemned 2 than anything else.

NOLF rocked, but so does FEAR. Oh, and Blood is their original game :P

If any of their past/dead franchises need to be resurrected, they'd be Blood and Shogo. Blood 2 was a mess.
