GSY Video PC Xbox One

Quantum Break will be available on Steam this week and we can take this opportunity to finally cover the PC port of Remedy's title. In the following videos, you will see the game running with different settings with the Mirillis Action! fps counter. Like in the Windows 10 version, deactivating the resolution upscaling is quite demanding, even with a GTX 1080. Most cutscenes also seem to run at 30 fps, which is sometimes explained by the fact that they hide the laoding times, but it's not always the case. once you have found the right settings to enjoy a steady 60 fps frame-rate, the experience is even more enjoyable than on console. If you want to find out more about the game, check out Davton's review of the Xbox One version.

Note:

In the second video, all settings are maxed out except the volumetric lighting, set to high only. In the third and fourth, all settings are maxed out. Except for some passages of the first video, everything you see here is with resolution upscaling ON.

Note 2:

It should be said that the ultra preset does not max out every single graphics setting. We entitled the second video "Ultra +" because we maxed out 2 out of 3 of the remaining settings.

PC rig: i7 6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 Go RAM (DDR4), Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 1080 Founder's Edition MSI

So the performance is exactly as bad as in Windows Store version? Shame. But hey, at least you don't have to deal with Windows Store.

DX12 as such gives me about 10fps higher performance in other games (Hitman and Rise of the Tomb Raider). 10fps can be a world of difference when it comes to vsync on screens only capable of 60Hz for example.

Played my Windows 10 copy, at 4k and ultra settings. Really impressive visually, specially the lighting effects.

I think It's got really good graphics. Did you know that QB's characters are above 75,000 polygons. with Jack being 75,488 polygons.

And also Lara Croft from Rise Of The Tomb Raider is just under 200,000 polygons.

Gives me actually lower fps in Tomb Raider. Depends on your system I guess. With high end stuff it actually hinders performance in some cases.

In some cases yes, but that's down to the implementation. I have a GTX1070 and a 6700K and DX12 gives me better performance. Mankind Divided performed worse with DX12 at first, but after a few patches it also performs better or at the same level now. The point is I'd be disappointed if the Steam version doesn't have support for DX12.

I absolutely loved this game but it just had some really questionable machanics. Why you can't shoot from the hip is just baffling.

That is probably during cut scenes not in game. Project cars car have some 80K polygons and PC at ultra have 200K. For character model this is too much. I do not think it looks that good, ryse I thought had impressive character model

In what sense? Seems the DX11 version runs better on Nvidia from most reports, so it's kinda half and half.

I'm kinda surprised by the performance in general. The power it takes to run this game in native 1080p seems.. kinda silly.

I have a gtx1080. With upscaling off I only get 60fps (@1080p) after turning volumetric lighting and screen space reflections to high instead of ultra.

I am not sure what is the norm of character models. But if you see racing games the cars even 80K looks great. Tiny looking Lara looks nothing close to these details cars.

I find it hilarious that this game can't run maxed on a 1080 at 1080p. I have to drop resolution to 900p and turn down volumetric lighting a tick to avoid the extreme softness of the 1080p upscaled mode while maintaining a smooth 60fps. Also, speaking of fps, what is the deal with cutscenes? They stutter and lurch while dropping to 30fps then when gameplay resumes there are usually a few seconds of stuttering while the game works its way back up to 60fps. That aspect, the slowdown, makes the 30fps cutscenes really unappealing. If it just cleanly switched from 60 to 30 and back I'd be fine with that. But if there's one thing I HATE, it's an inconsistent frame rate.
