Quantum Theory, Tecmo's Gears of War poor attempt at cloning Gears of War, is back with some images and a gameplay video aiming at convincing both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 players that their game is worth Epic's game. Good luck with that...
For a small company likeTECMO and for their first try taking step into the 3rd person shooter genre, it looks pretty decent. Of course it's not Unreal Engine 3 or so but heh, it looks at least better than all the DW games together. ;)
Driftwood said it all. It's a poor attempt at a Gears clone. I wouldn't mind a GOOD Gears clone, because I'd really like to play something like Gears on my PS3, but I think this one won't fill that gap. It looks generic and weird at the same time, just ugly...
Looks pretty terrible. Supposedly it runs on the Sigma engine, but I know it is capable of so much more than is being done here. While Sigma 1 and 2 were not exactly the prettiest games in the world, they had a clean look to them that these screens don't have.
Ah come on, the video wasn't that bad... it does reak of a Gears rip-off, but it seems like it could still be worth a rent. The screen shots however....
Gears Single Player is a well oiled machine from a gameplay perspective, from the roaddie run, the active reload... all i see here is a japanese variation of the same astethics, in relatively somewhat poor enviremonts that shit on any good gameplay mechanics gears has in the first place.
what does Itagaki leaving have to do with anything? contrary to popular belief Tecmo is more than Team Ninja and this isn't even a Team Ninja game. Itagaki had nothing to do with it; past, present, or otherwise. even if he were still there, this game wouldn't be on his head.
And now with Itagaki's departure, Tecmo has released nothing but rehases lately from Team Ninja's new leader, Hayashi (reHashi), who makes Tecmo the majority of their biggest buck with the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series.
Now Tecmo has merged with Koei in a poor attempt to stay alive, and is pumping out nothing but garbage titles like this new IP.
I seriously don't see the company surviving for many years without Itagaki.

You may be A LITTLE right in the sense that they have been livin' over past works, but the fact that this and other projects like Fist of North Star and the co-joint production of Metroid M for the Wii is in line, you too are somewhat wrong.
The only semi interesting part of this game is when the female character comes in to play. Whenever she's not around, this is a second rate Gears of War clone and nothing more.
Don't expect much of that title either, but I am open for a surprise !
The last part of that video with that moving platform looked not that bad. And if they have that girl is in CO OP mode, and someone can throw me around at the enemies could be fun.
Maybe they gave the newcomers at Tecmo a chance to learn how to make a western style shooter, and thats the result of it ! Learn from the best :)
Hope there second game is better then this one looks !
All this game does is make me think: what's the point?
It'd be interesting to see what Epic's - and more specifically Cliffy B's I guess - take on this is. I mean, the game doesn't even try to hide away from the fact that it's more or less a clone of Gears of War, as opposed to sharing a few similarities.

It's embarassing. Developers should know better.
exactly, same goes for dante's inferno tbh. there is similar and then there is blatant copy, both this and dante's inferno do the latter.

Ciff has to shut his mouth is you ask me. My opinion about this guy. His glitched and bugged IP called "Gears of War" is just terrible. Gears of Glitch. And he should apologize for all that crap he offers to the players, especially for the multiplayer community/part. Without that gore people rarely would be interested in that franchise either. Even Killswitch is a better game than Gears (ok, not really, but just shows where the idea from Gears comes from).
Team Ninja has nothing to do with TECMOs game here, btw.
Many games are clones today. Just look at Bayonetta. Nothing than a DMC clone. Its even from the DMC1 designer/developer.

Imho, this should of stayed PS3 exclusive, nobody on 360 is gonna buy this.
I predict a sales disaster.
