I still play and enjoy the game but long gone are the days when Rainbow Six was all about tactical realism, and realistic military designs that aimed to approximate those of their real-life counterparts.

We will never have another S.W.A.T or R6:Vegas or even a title that that remotely resembles the two in terms of their being true to the essense of what made them so special.
Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

Rainbow Six Siege Metacritic 73 on PS4 https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/tom-...
The PC version of Siege scored the highest at 79 and the 360 version of Vegas scored highest at 88. The sequel wasn't as good but guess what, Vegas 2 still scored higher than the meh Siege.
Misinformation and being wrong is a helluva drug.

And in this case... the continued success of Siege is absolutely a reflection of its quality. I understand that it's not for everyone, especially if you want a single player game, but it's a fantastic PVP game.
Previous games were super realistic and hard and focused on Single player.
R6 Siege is just another MP shooter that has absolutely nothing to do with the original games.
