The first main content update of Year 2 introduces a brand-new map with two new operators, an additional gameplay feature
as well as a major navigation update
San Francisco — February 6, 2017 – Today, Ubisoft announced that Operation Velvet Shell, the first free update of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 2 will be available for Xbox One, Sony Playstation®4 and Windows PC from February 7, 2017. Year 2 pass holders will instantly receive the two new Operators of the Spanish Counter Terrorist Unit as well as their 4 signature weapons skins and non-Season Pass owners will be able to unlock them using Renown in-game currency or R6 Credits starting on February 14, 2017.
The new Coastline map featuring Operation Velvet Shell
In Operation Velvet Shell, players will be plunged into an effervescent night ambiance on the seashore of Ibiza. While embodying two Spanish operators from the Grupo Especial de Operaciones, the Rainbow team will regain control of the coastline thanks to their unique tactical expertise:
• Mira has proven her strength and endurance but her best asset is her knowledge in mechanics. She is specialized in armoring process for ballistic protection. Equipped with the Vector 45 ACP and ITA12L as primary weapons, she can find the weaker spot on any machinery and reinforce it.
• Jackal has developed his expertise in tracking down HVTs and intercepting narcotics shipments with the G.E.O.s. Equipped with the C7E and PDW9 as primary weapons, he triggered an acute sensitivity relating to his environment, which enables him to spot irregularities rapidly.
Additionally, as part of the ongoing commitment to enrich Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege playing experience, Year 2 will start with new dynamic navigation interface, making all players activities such as challenges, news and boosters available in the same place. Xavier Marquis, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Creative Director explains “We are working hard on ensuring the game’s longevity. Since we are here to stay, we’re making sure that you are getting comfortable”.

How the Illinois Swat team dare to have a female operator to pander to SJW crowd...
I didn't even know that Saints Row had a feminist agenda.
To think: This thread could have been about Rainbow Six Velvet Shell.

Don't bother engaging someone who uses the term "SJW" in objective debate. They're just unaware social justice warriors themselves, campaigning for a different brand of social activism. All the while completely unaware of the irony or hypocrisy.

Siege has a female/male combination from just about all the countries they've chosen to represent in the game.
They aren't doing it to be progressive. They're doing it because females exist in these special forces as well...
Also Overwatch's characters are purposely diverse because it makes for a more interesting varied cast.
It's not pandering, it makes each more unique, varied, and cool to play
I like how for generations we've just been playing male characters and suddenly adding diversity is pandering or bothersome.
Find something more useful and deserving to be angry about.

And do tell how is it not a complete disregard of realistic and consistent world-building, and not pandering after the Unity cover debacle, to have female brawlers 'en masse' in Syndicate in time when women were to abide in accordance with rather strict social standards, not to mention how they would be practically useless in a fistfight. Am I missing something here or is it just blatantly obvious pander and Ubi just wants the buzz and the sales? I can't believe some people honestly think that they care. They likely don't. It's a business, and they're eager to sacrifice artistry and honest representation of history in order to push the narrative that's hip with SJW crowd, seeing how bloody vocal it is, given a chance to hate on someone.
I won't go over Blizzard, but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc0u1-Liamk
this fellow makes some good points about what bothers me about them.
And no, we haven't been playing as male characters for generations and when we were there was usually a good reason. Like world believability and realism and historical accuracy.
Also, I'm not really angry about it. I just feel a bit depressed with how artistic diversity is being replaced by political diversity. I want realistic games to be realistic and believable, and I want my not realistic games to be mad fun. I don't want them to mix like it's happening today. I'm sorry for liking things like they before 2006.
