Here are new concept arts for Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots that give an idea of what to expect from Ubisoft Montreal's game. Team Rainbow will be deployed in 2013.
Update: Some game's details and features added.

NEW FEATURES INCLUDE:

• Unprecedented Narrative – Patriots’ storyline explores an ultra-realistic what-if scenario inspired by real events and characters. The game will allow players to experience events from multiple perspectives creating an unprecedented level of immersion.

• A New Threat for a New Team – Terrorism has evolved and Team Rainbow must face an organized militia of home-grown insurgents. As the leader of a new squad, players will wrestle with difficult ethical decisions and determine if the doing-whatever-it-takes mentality is needed to stop the enemy.

• Enhanced Squad Management – At the press of one button, the Rainbow squad will perform the most efficient and deadly tactic given the context of the situation. When extreme measures are required, or when players call for it, you can take full control of your squad to plan the perfect assault.

• Evolved Combat – The game’s combat techniques have been pushed to the next level with cover and weapon systems redesigned to accommodate every combat situation. New Rappel and Breach mechanics are now enriched with multiple new techniques including Wall & Ceiling Breach, Fast Rope Rappel, inverted ‘Aussie Style Rappel’, Infiltrate & Subdue, just to name a few.

• Intense Multiplayer Experience – Players will be rewarded for working as a team and mastering the game’s new features that enhance communication and tactical execution between teammates. Once such feature found in the pre-game online lobby is the Sandtable, a holographic display that helps acquaint players with the level maps before they jump into the action. This will help players strategically coordinate attacks and add a new dimension to squad tactics.

• Surprise and Overpower Enemies – Utilize the game’s new Scan mode to strategically breach and infiltrate areas. This new tool will provide a thermal read on the situation, allowing you to determine the squad’s best course to overwhelm and defeat enemies.

If they fix the retarded cover system from Vegas 1 and 2, and I'll think about purchasing it.

While vegas 2 didn't add much to the formula, I think there are ample reasons why the first Vegas got an overwhelming amount of AAA ratings across the industry. The cover system/gunplay wasn't perfect, but for what it was trying to do compared to many other games at the time, I'd say it was a great game that gave me countless hours of thrilling fun w/ friends doing terrorist hunt long into the night.

R6V still has a pretty special place in my heart when it comes to this generations shooter offerings.

Looks like that NY bridge is their main setpiece? A bit weird if the whole game's set in one place, compared to the globe-trotting in previous games.

I really don't know about this game. I don't know about this game, dislike the big dramatic blockbuster style it seems to have.

What ever happened to subtlety.

Vegas 1 was a great game, then they went multiplat for the 2nd game and it was poor, lets hope they now know how to code for the PS3.

You can look over cover without being exposed... They made the game too (I usually don't say this) n00b friendly.

You're looking far too into these pictures. You do know that bridge is connected to a HUGE city right? I highly doubt they would make a game placed soley on just a bridge.

I just dont like this hight-tech shit in Rainbow Six. I want good old SWAT-like unit, ok some new gadgets like in real life, but keep it tactical and present. Some supernatural auto-terrorists-finding-helmet-mounted-sight,....oh please, only blocking the view.

I think they announced it so early because the concept video had leaked, and Ubisoft wanted to announce it officially before the leak went online.

Will be interesting to see how this game will play when Ubi's Anvil-engine used in AC gets modified to for it.

Wasn't it they put out the concept video early because they thought it would get leaked anyway?

Yeah I agree, I like the rarely taken approach of not announcing a title until it is almost completely done and the first footage already looks polished...Syndicate is the only example I can think recently of that took this approach but hopefully other devs will follow this example. Hype can be be very self defeating if it drags on...

Yes, Syndicate is a great example. Also, Nintendo is hip to this method.

Pretty much what I expected from what little is shown. Was hoping for them to go back to their tactical, paced gameplay roots, but after looking at the art, I see high octane cinematic explosions and lots of bungie jumping while shooting. I'm sure at some point the game will involve futuristic weaponry and skydiving off a cliff while an explosion occurs behind me. Hopefully they will throw in some QTE's so we can have to REALLY cool looking scenes to watch!

EXACTLY! But unfortunately, Ubisoft is too stubborn to make the series go back to its roots.

We must be in the minority though, or they would likely be doing it. I would literally pay $100 or more if they would make a Rainbow six or Ghost Recon game that had the tactical style gameplay of the originals, and all the bells, whistles, and physics of a current/next gen console game. Unfortunately, I don't think we will ever see a true tactical shooter on consoles again.
