The guy sounds like he should be commenting on a medieval game of some sort
Mixing Rainbow Six with Shakespeare and that music made me want to laugh out loud real hard throughout the whole video. I even holded my mouth with my hand to not make any sound laughing - very late here, but I just couldn't resist because it's all so bad that it can't be taken seriously.
The "genius" that thought this was good should be slapped till he comes to his senses. This was really, really bad even by Ubisoft's standards.
I'm not sure of what your idea of tactics is then... but depending on the game mode, your job is to use your abilities and tactics in the time given. You have to adjust your tactics used for which ever mode is active. That's part of what makes it R6.
It may also be a case of serverside preference. Even in Vegas and Ravenshield, you could specify all the settings to your liking. Not having a time limit in a R6 game though is silly.
I would also like to know what people mean when they say "tactical."
They want some people to play their game.
Even if the timer were set to ten minutes, the average round would still be much shorter. And pubbies aren't hot on sticking around in games where they have to wait ten minutes to respawn. That's a game killer. See: Mech Warrior Online. Good game. Way too much downtime. Dead.
And really.. there aren't "five short matches." A round isn't a complete game.
Edit: Watching some Raven Shield clan matches on youtube. The rounds are shorter than five minutes. Hopefully you can adjust round length in custom games, but I wouldn't count on people playing ten minute rounds.
This is supposed to be a tactical shooter but right now due to 5 min matches it's all rushed.
This is not what Rainbow 6 is about.
And no.. you can not win a "match" in one minute. Stop using "match" and "round" interchangeably.
In fact the round timer was.. five minutes.
In fact the round timer was.. five minutes.
The prep and recon phase keeps each round dynamic. This is the best R6 since Raven Shield.
I'm probably skipping it myself, but only because I'm busy with other shooters, and ultimately I'd rather play CS:GO if I really want to play a single elimination shooter. But bowing to casuals? Nah. At least they're not bowing to the whim of gamers who assessed the "tactical" value of Seige after one match w/ random testers.
Shifting gears: Kudos to Ubisoft for using different recoil patters on consoles vs. PC.
Dynamic? It's the same every single round...How is that dynamic?
Edit: Some leagues used four minute rounds even. Dem casuals.
Counter Strike is the same every round. Prep provides the opportunity for every round in Rainbow 6: Siege to play out differently. If players are deploying at the same sites and using the same defensive options every round.. that's not the game's fault. The prep and surveillance stage gives players the option to make the game dynamic, especially compared to similar single elimination scenarios.
You could leverage that same complaint against virtually any shooter, and yet Siege is more dynamic than most. There are also additional game types that aren't in the test. Hostage rescue should provide even more variety.
