Xbox 360

Microsoft updated the Backwards compatibles games on 360 with one of my favorites: Rallisport Challenge. This was enough for me to dust off the game and record this 720p video. I still love the third Mediterranean track :)

WOOT!!! What about Rallisport 2??? That game is even better!!!

EDIT: i checked the list and that sucks, it's the only new game worthy of being BC, they better be working on RSC2, and many others.

Do backward compatible games actually get rendered at 720p or just upscaled ?

Looks like the later.

it upscales the screen resolution to 720p which can be considered an upgrade. its VERY noticable with games like rainbowsix3 where the jaggies were rather horrible, on the 360 the lines are MUCH cleaner. unfortunatly not every game is also upgraded to widescreen format.

Loved this game though, awsome they finally put it on the BC list

I wouldnt say it looks better, but it certainly looks similiar. Gt4 hd is a port of a ps2 game and this is an xbox game. There both upscaled to hi def. So they are bound to look on par. I think the car model looks pretty darn good for an xbox game.

if they are gonna port RSC2 they better let us move the save file from the xbox to the 360 cause it would suck without my save file :(

i've got almost all the skins for every car unlocked for the game and as i remember it, it took me a LOT of time to get them :D

I would simply use cheats.

BC games aren't being "upscaled" - that implies that they're rendered at 480p and then supersampled up to 720p which would yeild no graphical benefit. Rather BC games are rendered at 720p directly (now if you have a 1080i display though, that 720p signal will be uspscaled to the 1080i res).

And yes, RSC2 simply ROCKS! It's still one of the best looking and driving rally games out there. You know how much I LOVED taking those dirt roads off into the woods in the English countryside tracks? Damn I miss that game <sniff>!

Oh and they really need to get Butcher Bay up and running. One of the best games eva'.

Chaos Theory looks AWESOME on the 360. I remember when it was first added to BC and playing the first level. I noticed how great it looks with the 360. Looks like a next gen game.

Rallisport look alright. I never played it on the original Xbox, so I can't tell if it looks that much different.

I popped in Amped 2 and this game looks pretty good too.

RSC2 is insane, it's easily one of the best games on Xbox if you ask me.

One thing that bothers me is that some of these games are 4:3 only on Xbox, so the 360 will simply offer a 4:3 aspect image with black borders on a widescreen telly. Is there a way around this?

I noticed playing in 480p lets it stretch to fit, but that defeats the whole purpose of the 720p wootage.

Yeah, RSC(1&2) were also one of my favorite games.. But I really want is a true next-gen RSC3 on my Xbox 360..

Racing games are a bit lacking on the 360 imho.. Forza 2 is coming out end of this year, but other then that, nothing.. Rally-games we won't see before 2007.. Atm we're stuck with PGR3, and that's it.. A bit sad really..

And why isn't Flatout 2 on the 360? That would have been a perfect game for me and my friends to play online.. We love dirty racing and destruction derby stuff etc..

Well, Burnout Revenge and Full Auto are both great *fends off Full Auto haters with burning stick* so I'd say the genre's pretty well represented on the 360 for a console this young. Rally games however have always been rather scarce, and if it wasn't for the crazy greatness of RSC2, the Xbox didn't really see anything besides Colin.

I really love mud, I really love the drifting aspect and the sheer dirtyness of rally games ever since Sega Rally (though in my opinion, nothing's ever topped SR1 to this day. They all just throw hundreds of tracks in your face until you can't tell one from the other, whereas time attack or versus on Desert will be in my heart always) and it looks like the best fix for that craving will be Motorstorm, whenever they release that.

DICE is EA now, but hopefully MS can put someone else on the job that doesn't stray too far from the RSC2 formula.
