GSY Video PS4

PS4 Pro arrives in 2 days and if we should be able to publish 4k home content very soon, we can already show you Ratchet and Clank in 1080p captured on PS4 Pro.

Game already looked amazing but there were always some jaggies that slightly damaged the picture quality, this looks fantastic.

They really need to make it mandatory for games to run at 60fps. I just can't stomach 30 anymore

You'd need a far more capable CPU to do that. Or design a game for 1080p/60 fps. Sadly graphics sell games and not framerates.

That isn't really a relevant thing to say here. Insomniac Games announced in 2009 after the launch of Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time they will no longer be targeting 60fps in their game engine. It takes a lot of effort and simply nobody was praising them for getting to 60fps in games that already looked stunning. As usual, people always criticise but they never give praise when its clearly due.

I wasn't expecting Insomniac to go back to R&C 2016 at all either. They usually move on from a game and onto their next project after 4 months its out and this particular game was ready to go since this time last year, they were forced to wait for the movie release.

Insomniac Games are an independent studio that can do what they like with their own game engine and Sony can't make them mandate 60fps even if they tried to force them. :)

Yeah, game is easily one of the best looking on PS4...I can immediately notice the reduction in jaggies with this image.

Such a shame that POS Jaguar CPU is crippling the 'Pro, if this could run at 4K, you'd be looking at almost (early) Pixar level quality, minus the ray tracing and 16x Super Sampling of course :)

I don't have any problem with 30fps in this game because its solid and the game feels very responsive.

God i hope its nothing like sunset overdrive. That game was the suicide squad of video games. It promised "wacky" but delivered "boring"

it was the main reason i jumped in on the xbone too, I was so gutted :(

Cannot disagree more with that. Had low to no expectations at all and SO turned out to be awesome and fun as hell.

I didn't love all of the humor in sunset overdrive but the game was fun for me. The movement was also really satisfying to master which is mainly why im excited for them making spiderman.

that's the power of low expectations. you can like anything if you go in expecting shit. i was expecting greatness though, so for me it kinda sucked.

Aside from the tone/humor what didn't you like about the gameplay, open world etc? Did you like the movement?

i liked the movement, aside from some janky animations and transition, and i even liked the weapons and style of it all. the humour was terrible, but it always has been in insomniac games for me. it was just the slow pace in which it really got going. it took about 10 hours for things to get "good" since your abilities open up but it didn't last for much longer after that. i think a sequel could be great if they built upon it, but as it was it was super disappointing, especially going into it with such high expectations.

Spiderman will be fine. SO was a wonky type of a experiment. Moreover it was only on Xbone so it did badly. Hopefully we will get some gameplay at the PS event. R&C already looked amazing on PS4 so I do not think they had to do much for PS4P. Spiderman probably will get a decent upgrade. Personally for me fps is not too important as long as the fps are stable
