I'm just hoping this will be the complete package like i think it is.
I can't imagine it looking any worse at release.
Of course in all fairness, not very many people at the time had PCs powerful enough to play GTA IV, much less play it with all the settings maxed out.
Perhaps the following:
-Unique infrastructure that makes the sandbox aspect not just about free-roaming but more about journey and exploration.
-Great story that makes you care about the main character, captivates you with its back drop setting and history and well paced and structured plot.
-Interesting side characters that makes every interaction feel engaging.
-Controlling the main character on foot or while riding or driving should feel absolutely right and genuine to the context of that mechanic. Transitioning between passive, active and action movements should be intuitive and smooth.
-Main missions should be varied enough, keeping the player on track as much as possible.
-Side missions should allow players to get a slightly different perspective on some story elements and perhaps some of its key characters too.
-Every objective in the game should remain true to the context of the story and theme. Every completed objective should give the player the sense of a worthy achievement and progression through the story.
The world in which the player roams should feel like it's a living and breathing place, with a past and present to it.
Multiplayer should allow for co-op, making the replaying of a game give a slightly different experience. Some weapons and side stories should only be unlocked through co-op play.
Last but not least the player should be captivated by how close to real or authentic everything looks.
I'd say Red Dead Redemption comes close in meeting all the above points. It could very well end up as one of the greatest free-roaming games of all times.
Sounds to me like your the bullshot.
