I never finished RE4, started it and got to about 90% of it on PS2, even did so about 3 times already. Gonna finish it once and for all when this version comes out. After it, gonna finish RE6 and Revelations.

I have beaten this game on two different platforms and I never understood the hype. The village chapter was great but that's it...

The hype came from the fact that it was, a Gamecube exclusive, Over the shoulders camera style, pretty good presentation and formatted for widescreen TVs. The game's material is pretty common now but back then it was like GOD OF WAR and MGS3 hype level coming from Gamecube.

High definition still means high definition, even if what is being highly defined looks comparatively like ass.

Will get this for sure at a Steam sale.

Please tell me this trailer is meant as a joke. There is no such thing as "HD" for PC games. There are various resolutions, but nobody says they are playing their game in HD.

PC gamers in general are much more knowledgeable about things like resolution and frame rates. This feels like a advertisement for casual console players.

*deep breaths*

It's a port with support for HD resolutions, what's s freaking hard to understand about that? It's not like we were ever promised anything else. If you don't like it, then don't bloody buy it.

HD is, by definition, 1080p. It's generally a TV-standard i suppose, but all PC gamers knows what it means too. There is no argument here.

HD has no actual definition as it's just a marketing term. The original Sega Genesis says "High Definition Gaming" right on the top of the console.

It's current usage started around the the release of the Xbox 360 and is commonly used for anything over 720P.

It's not a marketing ploy, it's related to the standard for what is considered HDTV. I know that Wikipedia isn't generally a good thing to use as a source, but as the article seems to be well sourced on it's own i'll just point you that way;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_telev...

HD ready = 720p, full HD = 1080p. Less applicable to PC monitors, but still. If a game is marketed as "HD" you can expect it to fully support 1080p and probably above on PC.

Also, because i'm a nitpicky asshole, it says high Definition Graphics on top of SOME genesis models. Not on the Megadrive :P

Eh... I'm a firm supporter of 60fps gameplay but 30fps games should stay 30fps. It's a good thing they're offering the option at least.

That said, I think this game is best played with a GC controller so I'll stick with Wii ver

The original game wasn't in HD generally, and this version will be capable of HD. Are you really bitching about this? Sure, it's dumb to call ANYTHING "Blank:HD" but come on, who cares? It's accurate, and it makes sense because the game hasn't generally been available in HD so it's a worthwhile (probably the only worthwhile) feature to note.

This game is amazing and all those people saying they don't understand the hype, well, if it weren't for RE4 there would be no third person shooters as we know them now, simple as that. It was a revolution back in the day, the camera system was something totally new that has been copied endlessly since then. I still prefer the first 3 RE games but RE4 was, and still is, an amazing game.
By the way, those saying its graphics haven't been improved, you'd better go and play the ps2 version and then check this out or the 360 version and you'll see that the difference is huge!
Oh, and I'd never recommend playing this with the Gamecube version, the 360 controller is perfect for the game, and a million times better than gamecube's or Wii's gamepad.

Yeah, as much as i love RE4, the game has been re-released 100 times at this point. I own it for 3 different platforms lol.

Too bad REmake won't happen, because of...Nintendo. Capcom would've been ported it already if there wasn't exclusivity deal. :/

I personally think - even though RE4 might have been a decent game in it's own right - that this was the game that took a giant shit on the series, and is solely responsible for the state the franchise is currently in today. It went off the rails from this point on, so for that reason, and that reason alone, I consider RE4 to be the bad apple that upset the cart.

While i wanted that back on GC when i thought they where remaking them all. Now i don't think i do. Unlike a lot of people i think the first game is the pinnacle of the series, not the second. And while 2 was the aliens to the first games alien ie. Different, action orientated bit still good. I'd rather have the first game again.

Did nintendo publish it on GC? Whoever has the ability to port that baby with decent AA and potentially re-rendered backdrops. They need to get on it. BE it nintendo on the Wii-U or capcom themselves for every platform under the sun.

Yeah, I think Nintendo published it. If I remember correctly, they bought exclusive rights for the series for a limited time back then? Not sure. Personally, I think it would be brilliant if they went the 3d rout with the fixed cameras like Code Veronica for the new consoles. There's no need to do CGI still renders any more. I think a game could look even better than the GC game now, only in real time. Imagine it with all the lovely new technology in lighting, volumetric fog, cloth simulation and all the rest of the goods. Maybe it could use Capcom's new engine or Unreal or something. It won't happen, but it would be great if it did. A remake of a game that's already been remade. That's the only reason why a remake of the second game would be more viable, because it hasn't been done yet.

I really, really hope it's a good port this time. I pulled my hair trying to play the old port back when it first released for the PC. Here's hoping it will have proper mouse support and appealing visuals.
