Trailer PC PS4 Xbox 360 PS3

Capcom released this trailer of the "remaster" of Resident Evil, in nothing less than 720p resolution! I didn't expect much visually, and I didn't get much, so I guess there is disappointment...

I think they overdid it a bit with the sharpening filter to make it more "HD". It looks ridiculous in some places. Still, it's one of the best horror games ever made and probably the best example of a game remake in history. So even if this HD version turns out to be a bit shabby it's still totally worth playing.

I don't know, Silent Hill 2 is up there with the best too but that "shabby" butchered HD port is not what I would recommend people to play at all.
The fact that they will let you play it in 4:3 or a proper 16:9 mode that pans across the zoomed in prerendered backgrounds is a good sign though and they explained this right away with the announcement of the game too.
Now I wonder are they rerecording the English actor's voices too since Jill and Chris were played by different people in Revelations?

Edit: Actually just watched the trailer and the voices are the same as the original release. That bit at the end of the trailer hearing Lisa through the gates is terrifying :)

From what I read from a user on NeoGAF, Capcom won't use the original voice actors and stated that they will use "professional" voice actors this time. Whether they are the same from Revelations remains to be confirmed.

Looks like they fucked up Jill's face again. Also crushed blacks, shitty filters, and new voice actors? PASS.

They need to leave this game alone and work on something new. There's a new sheriff in town when it comes to survival horror, and that's Mr. Kojima.

Most likely it was all about the newly added japanese version of VA for the japanese release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhZfIwFTDTI

The gamecube version was damn fantastic, so much atmosphere and tension with the zombies that would come back if you didn't burn the bodies. It really is one of the best horror games of last gen, I cant wait to play it again. Too bad there isnt a way to keep the original VO but its fine, it would have been so awesome is they somehow reworked the orignal PS1 VO in this version as a bonus, i hope they add in time trial stuff but that doesnt seem like the case :/

Still an instant buy for me, i loved the gamecube version.
One day they better remake RE2, that would make alot of people happy.

Running the original Gamecube ReMake on the Dolphin emulator looks better than this. And they plan to charge people money for it? Wow. No.

It actually doesn't, and the reason for that is because it upscales the resolution of the polygonal assets to the point where they become jarring against the blurred backgrounds where the original tiles just couldn't follow for obvious reasons. They've upscaled those original renders here, but they've used really cheap tricks from what looks like a quick and dirty job in Photoshop just to try to bring the quality up a little. It works, just about, but I can't help but look at that footage and want those background renders to be completely redone. It could have looked astonishing.

I agree, "Instant Buy". The original is the reason I bought a PS1 in the first place. It kick started my love for video games even though I started with the original Atari.
