Gorgeous!
So much detail in the characters, the environments, and the ambient effects like debris and smoke.
Can't wait.

Looks nice, but textures are very low-res. Look at the tree and the ground in pic 1!

Are those pics from MP?

looks very nice,
by the way ps3 online basic is free, thats BASIC,its gonna be the same as xbox live silver.
you have to pay to do the most stuff(same as xbox live gold)

Beginning this November at launch, the PS3 "will feature community tools including lobby matching and voice chat," as well as "commerce features that includes bootable software via the hard drive." This is basically the PS3's online service, which was created with Sony Online Entertainment's assistance and will be provided free of charge--well, the "basic" service will be at any rate. "Premium" Live features, anyone? Thanks, bv, RobR, and untitled!

lol ramiuk, u never get old mate. I am sure mods are already pissed off with me so I won't go into a debate.
But to PLAY PS3 online, you dont have to pay. There is no "basic" or "premium" service.

Anyway, Resistance: doesnt have the OMFG AMAZING PS3 kind of visuals but as I said, good enough for launch and it has a great gameplay to boost. Also it is confirmed to be 1080p for those of us lucky enough to take advantage (i think my monitor can do an upscaled 1080, doesnt matter though as i am getting a TV in a year with the TRUE HD label :)).

well tbh mate i cant wait for this game,as it will look nice on my ps3 with my 40" lcd hdmi tv,so all is good dude,i have read in a few sites that there is 2 internet plans from sony,a basic and a premium (i dont know the name so i use premium.
im not starting a debate, only time will tell but i would put money on it that sony online is not totally free, developers wont give there stuff away for free and they wont make live tv and broadcasts free, they will loose to much money.
but peace out and im looking forward to lots of amazing titles like this one for the ps3,i truely cant wait,

BUT I HOPE IT IS COMPLETLY FREE AS I GET MY XBOXLIVE 12 MONTHS SUB FOR £10 AND I DONT WANT TO PAY FOR SONY ONLINE TOO

This game is something special, I hope to meet you guys online ;).

Ramiuk, PS Network is COMPLETELY free, everything from gaming to video chatting is free. The only part where you have to spend money is unified PlayStation Store, in which you'll be able to buy game content, as well as PSX/PS2/PSP games, music and movies. You pay using real money, not points (so there won't be any confusion).

There's a new feature about PS3 online on eurogamer, head there to find out more and make your trolling less obvious.

For all of the "free online OMG!" topics, do you have any idea how rampant cheating is going to be? Or perhaps how laggy your huge matches are going to be become? Without the possibility of dedicated servers, I think this is going to get pretty ugly...

Rampant cheating? Well, PS3 hasn't been hacked yet ( duh :), unlike the 360.
Sony will have the same power as Microsoft to boot users based on feedback. Even with the unified 'gamertag' on PS3, each gamertag is still associated to a give console. They can ban more accounts from abusive consoles.

With respect to dedicated servers, that has nothing to do with Live or Playstation Online.
For instance, when you host a Halo 2 Live game, _you_ are the server. Live gives clients your IP address, they connect to you, and after that all the game-specific traffic goes between you and your clients. The are no Microsoft dedicated servers.

Games that run dedicated servers (eg EA's Battlefield 2: MC) run linux servers for PS2 and XBox and XBox 360. Has nothing to do with Live.

Omg guys why are you afraid of good service?!?!?

Drew, no there will be NO lag! In a PREVIEW version of REsistance at a conference, the game ran 40 Player online and every report said it was as smooth and as beautiful as the single player experience!!

Jesus christ, Sony gives us something amazing for free and you guys STILL find faults with it!! C'mon now...! Just because it's too good to be true doesn't mean it's not true!!

What's next? "uh yeah i prefer paying for my online gaming!!" ??? lol

i payed £10 for 1 years xbox live gold and thats 19p a week,i think its worth it.

sony online will be good, the only thing that has a slight worry for me is that they arnt doing it themselves its a 3rd party, but when its free, you cant complain about it.
and as far as lag goes,i cant see there being much,it will be like some 360 games, weekends a little occasional lag, weekdays non at all

There will always be some games lag, depending on who's hosting the game. This happens on Live as well.
If PS3 online lets you sort servers by ping time, that will help.

In Canada, Live Gold is $60 a year. In the US, it's $50 a year. That's why only 10% of XBox1 users bought Live gold (see Gamasutra for stats).

Over the life of the console (4 years for XBox1), $50 a year adds up to $200. Too much for me, who really enjoys online play, but only uses it casually.

1. The Xbox 360 hasn't been hacked.
2. Halo 2 does not have 40 players.
3. Yeah, it had no lag in the preview version because it was up on a LAN.
4. Then why are very few games sporting free online? It comes at the expense of the developer, not Sony. The PS3 online system is exactly the same as the PS2's, except now you get to juggle multiple friend lists and user ID's. Oh joy.

3 - No it wasn't, they were playing miles apart, a group in San Francisco, against a group in Burbank. (California)
4 - Is this in response to someone? It seems that way, there seems to be no context for this statement. Multiple friends list, and unified ID's are part of what makes a great online service, why are you trying to discount these things as unimportant? Besides that's hardly the only difference.

People are going to be playing together from thousands of miles away, not a mere 350.

I was replying to:

I said multiple user ID's and friend lists. With some games using Xfire, others using their own system, and still more only tacking on the Sony friends thing; it's going to get confusing. It's anything but unified.
