Riddick DA: Demo video

It's been quite a surprise today to discover that a playable demo of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena was available on Xbox Live today, and it's also been quite a pleasure to record these two videos. The demo is short, but confirms that Riddick is back and is as good as ever!
Important: We have some major issues with our streaming right now. If it doesn't work for you, please let us know in this news comments with as much details as possible (OS, Browser, Flash version if known, country). Screenshots would be great too.

Demo looks very nice.
Controls are a bit funny but after 5 minutes you get the hang of it .
Even in this demo you already feel that the story and gameplay and also the great ideas are amazing.
This game will rock !!!

The use of the knives is sick as hell, the cutscene where he stabs de sitted man like a piece of meat is as awfull ( in a good way ) as the Zoom-in scenes in CSI. Yuck!

It was pretty good, i was looking for more of the stealth type stuff shown in the videos but the areas they put in the demo don't really present those opportunities much(tho you obvious could at some parts). Fighting is coo, had to keep at it to get the timing down on it better to be more efficient with the kills.

Just remember its not a case by case thing, every new demo release wont be available to silver members for the first week.

This game is brutal there's one counter with the Combat Knife that's totally sick, Riddick slams the guy in the wall stabs his gut 2 or 3 times and then he stabs the guy in the face.

Really enjoyed the demo here, it looks good, plays well and finally I can shoot while leaning also the best part from EfBB was IMO the adventure stuff like doing sidequests and as long as they keep that in DA i'm buying it. Day one.

pretty good demo, i'm still not sold on the setting and design in general, but it plays well enough to warrent a rental, if not a purchase. one thing i really disslike is the way riddicks hands twang up and down when you start moving beyond a certain speed. it's something that i didnt like is the darkness and i dont like it much here either.

Game was a must buy for me anyways. Demo is great, except there's none of the typical 'to play the rest, buy the full game on blah blah', it just cuts off at the end. Plays really solid just like the first Riddick did on Xbox and PC. Glad it doesn't have any of The Darkness's control issues.

Actually, there's a lot of stealth if you want to, just like Splinter Cell. Just SHOOT OUT ALL THE LIGHTS, and scare the crap out of all the enemies! There are many bits with many Drones where you can do this, and take down 4-5 baddies one by one ninja-style.

I played it on Hard, and it's a great challenge. I'm a huge stealth guy, so this is a Day 1 purchase, since it'll be a 20 hour game.

I've cancelled my pre-order for this having now played the demo, and I loved the first game on Xbox 1.

What I don't like about this - the level geometry looks like an Xbox 1 game with higher-res textures. The lighting is also Xbox 1 stuff, with basic pin sharp shadows. The horrible fish eye perspective which is so OTT it makes me ill looking at it. But mostly the gameplay, which just seemed kind of dull and basic. Maybe it's just a dated game now and things have moved on.

Yepp, same here. It really feels old.

And I also need to say that they seemingly left the A.I. untouched.
The enemys are remarkably stupid...

But then why did you even preorder it. Its partly ported, so you didn't need to be a fortune teller to know that geometry etc. stays as simple as it was.

mixed bag. The graphics looks decent enough..although plain, and the levels pretty uninspiring. The controls though felt very dated..a kind of slow floaty feel to them, the darkness had exactly the same.

Have to agree here. Graphicswise its Butchers Bay + Depth of Field, and thats it.
Nevertheless very entertaining franchise. Will buy for sure, but for PC. ^^

the place where this game is being developed is about 30min to drive from my home it is being developed in the same country that i live in that is to say sweden. and the first riddick was very good and had awesome graphics for its time

Why did you pre-order it then, lol, makes you look dumb. When you pre-order, that means you're going to get it no matter what, impulse buy. I LOL at people who cancel pre-orders, do they have common sense? Why not pre-order AFTER the demo?

I thought it was ok, the hand to hand combat felt pretty good, with a excellent feeling of impact from each blow. The guns however are the total opposite, filling an enemy full of lead seemed to have no effect on them at all, they just stand there like there's nothing happening
