Xbox 360

As a change from the numerous Project Gotham Racing 3 videos I've put online in the last few days, here is this very nice gameplay video of Ridge Racer 6, from the TGS build. This video is a tad better quality than the one I did in Tokyo, but of course does not show anything new.
[UPDATE]: Low quality video added

Wow. That's one hell of a bad sense of speed.

Kind of surprised though. Looks more like Outrun 2 than I thought it did. Very automatic system though, for the corner-taking. Kind of sad.

Yeah it looks horrible and floaty. I guess the series has its fans though.

I wonder if this game lets you turn a corner properly, with out just gliding round it.
Looks very repetive and surprisingly slow.

The whole point of Ridge Racer are the power slides, so if you take a corner slow your gonna get owned pretty badly by the other drivers, this is not a simulation at all, its an arcade racer. What racing game isn't repetitive?

It looks like it plays very much like the PSP RR, which is a good thing. Looks fantastic, definitly gonna be picking this up.

RR and Outrun 2 are very similar, yeah, and both just about as far from real racing as you can possibly get without entering.. curling or something. Just really.. really far from racing.

They're surprisingly rewarding to play once you get into them though, they unsurprisingly feel nothing like driving a car, or even pretending like you're driving a car, but they have their own sense of accomplishment and reward and just.. a sense of freedom and chill-ness. It's true that not everybody likes them though for sure, but if you just let yourself go and disregard of the fact that they're cars, you might just find it lovely to play. You can't go into them as a "racing game" fan though, because they don't even bother getting the friction one tenth right. That's just not what they're about. :)

why hate on this or Outrun because they aren't realistic? would a game like this or outrun be what they are if they went simulator? hell no! we don't all limit ourselves to simulators, y'know! a nice relaxing and very fun game like outrun or even this are good from time to time.
heh, i have some friends that always go on about games like these sucking since they're not realistic, blah blah blah, too bad the fools don't realize that it's a bloody game, and fun is where it counts. anyway, hopefully this game has nice settings/tracks, and won't be too repetitive!

haha, looking at this video now, does look very similar to outrun2. Outrun2's scenery in the highlands, windmill area looks better, though, and had as good if not better draw distance! i hope that game gets support in backwards compatibility, and if it does, would be so nice to have it running at a higher resolution with plenty of FSAA..pretty sure enhancing it will be cakewalk for the gpu.

didn't like the RR series till I played RR for psp... now I'm looking forward to RR6 to become game #2 together with pgr3 on 360 launch. I don't think RR6 has to look as good as pgr3, it's pure fun, that counts in this kond of game...

Spydaweb, if you think drifting in a real car or even in a semi-realistic racing game like PGR is anything like drifting in Outrun 2 and RR you're mistaken. I suggest you try both games and see for yourself. It's a very strict and at first rather awkward game mechanic that feels nothing like actually powersliding in a real car with real friction. It's not even a lot like Burnout which has some sense of weight even though it's enormously arcadey.

I'm not criticising RR and Outrun 2 for this, on the contrary I find it a blast to play them, but I disagree about your sentiment that it has any "real" ties to the feel of drifting even though that's obviously what the mechanic is derived from.
