Gamewatch put online these new images of Ridge Racer 7. It's also worth saying that the game got a nice 36/40 in the latest Famitsu Weekly.

It was a decent game, but not in the same category as this one looks to be.
Game looks quite pretty, but the gameplay isn't my cup of tea at all, the car handling is very basic, though I kinda reckognize the "addictiveness" this game can have...
I am still yet to see a Ridge Racer that can top Rage Racer though..... that was a different matter entirely.
This game is looking good!
It used to be that RR was a great game now it's just a joke.
That aside the graphics are really nice here, looks almost CGI like in some of those pics above.
Perosnally i think they would have been better off making a remake of the original, now that was a brilliant game.
What happened to Namco ? since they merged with Bandai they have been putting out a load of rubbish RR6 and RR7 excluded.
Tekken 6 was a joke at E3 and the Gundam games look less than average, the PS3 one especially doesn't look like the E3 trailer we saw so long ago.
*sighs*
Anyway, RR7 looks to be a good title to pick up for launch. With Motorstorm being delayed till March, I need a good racing game to whet my whistle at launch, and this seems to be the ticket. I got RR on PSP launch, RR6 on 360 launch, and I don't intend to break the cycle here.
"The frame rate was steady, only dropping around 20-30 frames at little times and remaining smooth the rest of the way

It was solid framerate, but not 60fps.

"Score reflects graphics viewed at 1080i resolution
Ridge Racer 6's graphics run locked at a smooth 60fps. Sadly, that is the best quality I can describe about them"

"The game also always runs at a consistent and smooth 60fps framerate."

"Secondly, the game runs at 60fps making the whole thing run as smooth as you could ever hope for. In fact, even the seemingly silky smooth Project Gotham Racing 3 feels incredibly odd if you turn it on after a session on Namco’s racing game. "

"certainly not the title to show off the Xbox 360 with, but it still looks decent, depending on the track, and runs at a very nice 60FPS"
Should I continue? The Game runs perfect and with 60 fps, no question about it. Anyone who have tried the game notice it directly. But on the other hand, with that "poor" graphic it shouldn't have been a problem.
60 fps at 1080i is actually 30 fps, since only half of the scene refreshes with every frame, meaning that scene is divided between 2 frames. It was true 60 fps at 720p though.
RR7 looks razor sharp and brings up lots of innovation to the Ridge Racer franchise, I really hope that it will build up large internet community that I will surely join after European launch.

But i think it's safe to say that RR6 was rendered in 1080p and scaled to 1080i, why would the PS3 be capable of doing it and the 360 not ?
Especially considering the PS3 version has had a graphical update aswell.
"1080p is a higher bandwidth connection from the frame buffer to the TV than 1080i. However the frame buffer itself is identical. 1080p will look better than 1080i—interlaced flicker is not a good thing—but it makes precisely zero difference to the game developer. Just as most Xbox 1 games let users choose 480i or 480p, because it was no extra work, 1080p versus 1080i is no extra work. It’s just different settings on the display chip."
If you think the PS3 has more pixel pushing power you are very misinformed.
Supposedly DOA4 is running in true 1080p as well.

If DoA4, and RR6 would be running in 1080p initially, then Microsoft would already use it as their bullet point, Itagaki would be all over it in media, and most of all, they wouldn't run the stupid "1080p is possible only for bad looking games and old arcade ports" campaign.
As far as pixel pushing goes, Cell is a monster, it has been benchmarked, no need to argue. It's really surprising that some of you believe that hardware that's year old can compete with new one.
That's ok.. imagine what PS3 games will look like in a year :)
