you are aware that this game is being developed by BugBear, not the Japanese dev team in JAPAN.
Therefore this game is not a real ridge racer game anymore, its an insult to the fans of the game series and even to arcade racers.

Nitrous is one thing, I won't defend it but Ridge Racer has always been about break neck speed and twich response on the curves/opponents so I mostly used to see Nitrous as something thats part of the current disease of gamers complaining games are too hard and game devs giving easy buttons but driving through street traffic? driving through walls??!!, driving then the car flips in the air??!!
Sorry if it hurts your eyes but that is NOT Ridge Racer, hell its not any of the intense Arcade sit down racers like Ridge/Rave, Daytona, SanFranRUSH, S.C.U.D./SegaSuperGT, or even Initial D.
I'm trying to remember going through walls in BugBear's Flatout... can't seem to remember, you know what this tells me that this is a bad idea, its not Ridge Racer and someone is trying to re-invent the wheel.
I think its your instinct telling you its a bad feeling/karma when a CGi trailer is being used to advertise a classic racing game series alot of people knew.
If you still don't understand it, its a Street Fighter being programmed by Ed Boon or Mortal Kombat programmed by Yu Suzuki's team its not going to end well, you know what else it sounds like...
Microsoft making a PlayStation and Sony making a Nintendo, whats next the Republicans completely voting Democrat and vice versa.
Its a completely different mentality from the creators and it will offend/insult fans of the series when the series is not tired, old or whatever negative weasel word people like to use.
and for your information, I've been playing RR since the PSone launched. and RR6/7 where prime examples of a series that had completely lost it's appeal. why? because it's a tired formula that has been played out. no regurgitated crap is going to cut it for a RR sequel, not anymore, they've done that 7 times already. "more of the same" is THE worst decision they could have made. the series needs to get with the times, adapt to current trends and gamers and pull itself out from the 90's if it wants to be anything more then just a niche nostalgia-fest. is bugbear and unbounded the developer and game to do that? who knows. but i DO know i appreciate them at least TRYING, something NAMCO haven't done with he series since rage racer.

RR7 was nothing more than trying to make the game easier to play for the wimps who could not keep their nerves under control in Ridge Racer V as well as the side effect and result of the huge "Fast and Furious phenomenon" that made everyday normal people believe that putting nitrous in a car is necessary to make it go faster than it already goes.
You then mention Rage Racer as a point where Namco has not tried while ignoring R4 and even the developed for PS2 launch RRV.
and whats all this bull crap about "has been played out" and "get with the times to current gamers"?
You mean the current gen mentality that all games need to have a forced online mode that has been destroying alot of the games progress from previous generations as if game developers did not have it hard enough implementing more complex physics, more complex A.I. if necessary, more complex lighting, 3d effects, etc.
Maybe you need to go back and replay all those Ridge Racer games that you played and even the ones you missed, in case you missed RRV. Because if its wrong for Namco to not try to destroy Ridge Racer like Microsoft/BugBear deal then why did Capcom go back to the 90s to bring Street Fighter IV back to 2d fighting planes instead of getting with the "upgrade" mentality disease or why even former Midway, now Netherrealms went back to the 90s TWICE with MK Shaolin Monks and Mortal Kombat 2011 that went back into 2d fighting again.
As a matter of fact why is it that Call of Duty does not get flack for still having the same gameplay from CoD 1 and 2? let alone spit shine 3d engine?
Ridge Racer does not need Bug Bear, it does not need to be unbounded and going into street traffic racing or going through walls, it should be left alone for the original creative team to decide and MAKE and REMAKE as per their decision instead of pandering to the very hostile and biased game review/magazine sites that forgot all the fun they had, or even pandering to some idiot game reviewer who claims the series is tired and not next gen enough.
The Nintendo 3DS RR is a real Ridge Racer game, that has the heart and soul of the creative team even if they put the big billboards for player names that might look silly, Ridge Racer was never meant to be a "realistic" or "crash simulator" game.
