What a nice idea! Especially cool for people like me, who have an electric guitar lying around but can't play it. Who knows, if it's able to motivate me long enough, I might end up being able to play a guitar.

Edit: At least a little. I know there's no fast and/or easy way to learn something like this.

What do you get out of ANY game?

My friends and I have had countless, awesome drunken nights playing Rockband that I haven't gotten out of other games.

Face palm at the first video which just goes to show that a n00b starting with this will just learn wrong. No technique or anything, but hey if you think just using your index finger, no bracing and holding the pick in a very unhelpful way is ace, then go for it i guess :P

But seriously, i could imagine this being a bit of fun but i'm also kind of doubtful as to how well it will be able to pick up individual notes and chords and stuff. And i mean, seriously, what if you are playing with a shit guitar? Some crappy wiring and the game might not work as well as it should?

Wel, again i could see myself giving it a go since i allready have a few guitars and the console but i kind of doubt it's capabilities as a learning tool. At least on it's own :)

Oh indeed! Hitting the modulation in Livin' on a Prayer was my personal highlight, better with all the kit!

Actually i think a game like this might be a great tool to keep you practicing songs and techniques as you get clear feedback and the game won't allow you to "cheat" when practicing and so forth but you also need to learn theory and technique or you'll end up learning things in ineffective and stupid ways and later, if you want to get more serious, will have a hard time re-earning the correct things.

But i think it might be a cool tool and i hope we get more stuff like this on PC as a complement to lessons and tutorials. IF it works purely technically that is, as per usual.

Also fail at the announcement trailer. Notice how the guitar makes a little sound when he grabs the neck of the guitar right before plugging it in and it makes a little sound just like it was actually plugged in to an amp? Do they expect to get away with shit like that!? ;)
