Konami today released these four images from Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, while also revealing this year's cover boy: the Christiano Ronaldo. Judging by these images, Deco is happy with the decision.

Don't they have any good artists in japan or what?! Ill buy this game just because it playes well and will have more features than they cut out from 2007 version, but honestly, dissapointed on the looks.
When it comes to presentation EAs FIFA is running circles around them.
I agree on the fact that Fifa may be fun to play (for a while), but it doesn't last long, at least not for me. The intial hours are ok, until you realize how the things actually work, and the fact that it won't change to something better. I never get boored with PES, even though it could have had a better manager mode, like Fifa has.
And, well, sure, there's not much happening between the different versions - but it's always those small things that makes the gameplay much better. One year the goalkeepers got much more realistic, some other year they got a lot of new animations in, some other year they did the Master League better - and every year they get more and more licenses. Even though it's always not worth paying 60$ for it, you can always find a little bit cheaper a couple of months later.
Hopefully they'll improve the online mode this year.
Top marks that man!
Looks predictably flat in stills but the beauty of PES is in animation and gameplay. At least we're getting edit modes and replays this year. Plus Veron should be back, which means I'll be half decent again!
1st day purchase for me as always.
Being a PES fan 100% I know the exuses we always came up with:
"its about gameplay not visuals, its about gameplay"
But I can't use this anymore as an comparison, especialy now that Fifa 07 has improved so much, EA is slowly catching up and Konami needs to do something more than just add 10 more animations and few extra team licenses. PES2007 was a huge disappointment for me with all the lacking features (Edit mode anyone?, Saving replays?).
I have seen the same guys here complaining about visuals of other games here that looked tons better than those screenshots of PES.
Fifa 2007 was pi55 poor by the way...still way behind.
BTW folks, the irritating dude is called Cristiano not Christiano. ;)
Zeuxis:
I agree, Fifa is gaining, but I still think they're miles behind.
They need to work on their presentation, that includes lighing, 3D, menus. I want this game to look like the best one the moment you put the disk in, not after you played it. :)
PES 6 was remarkably last-gen and the screenshots we're seeing here are only a minor improvement. It's probably a safe bet that the menu's and presentation will be bland as well.
Still a day one purchase for me though. I needs me my footy fix and PES is still the master when it comes to gameplay. FIFA's still got a way to go in that department.
It's just too bad we can't get great graphics and great gameplay in one game.
