It's the heartbreaking news of the week. Sega announces the presence of Ryo Hazuki, hero of the unforgettable Shenmue series, in the roster of his fantasy racing game Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing. He'll be available riding his motorcycle or... a forklift. Now this is plain cruel. We've all been expecting the return of Ryo since the tragic death of Yu Suzuki's series in 2001. But not like this !

Sorry to be controversial but to me Shenmue was not that great. It broke a great deal of new ground and had some intriguing elements but I also think in many ways it was a failed experiment as large portions of the game were deadly dull.

Just my opinion sorry Shenmue fans.

Yep, Shenmue was kinda boring as hell, but I loved it!

Imo the game with the greatest atmosphere up to date. Everytime I played it I felt japanese?!

"Did you see a car on that day when it snowed?"
"How about a game of lucky hit!?"
*driving fork lift for 10 hours straight*

Yeah, Shen Mue did some cool things and was very ambitious but i have to agree that it was perhaps not THAT great.

shenmue was very ambitious..one of the few games to really focus on "a story" for its time. I think shenmue 2 made up for alot of the first short comings.

Its just a shame the legacy shenmues left is an uncomplete story, and the mass flooding of QTE's in gaming.

I have to say though, Yakuza was a step up from Shen Mue i think. Anyone who liked Shen Mue just has to go play that game.

Hmm I would argue that its very relevant when the thread inevitably turned into a discussion about Shenmue as opposed to some mascot racer that apparently nobody gives a shit about.

Sad thing is Ill buy this game now just to play as him.

Come on SEGA re release the series on Live Arcade and PSN! And then finish the series off on there aswell. Wont cost as much to make, will be on 2 platforms and you can give Shenmue fans the ending!

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong...

Yours Sincerely,

The SDF (Shenmue Defence Force).

What's even more beguiling is the fact that Ryo looks really good in some of these screens. Shenmue 3 with current-gen graphical polish would be amazing! (Yakuza doesn't count unless you have a fantastic grasp of Japanese, which I don't).

I'm still waiting to kick the shit out of Lan-Di, come on Sega, I need to avenge my father!!!!
