I think what's been the strong separating line between cinema and games has always been that flaw of high contrast on the edges games have. even at 1080p with the best mutisampling rendered, edges on objects come out way more visible and unnatural.

The edges on Ryse come out like a motion picture, or along the lines of something pre-rendered. I think more games should work on getting that soft motion picture effect on the edges.

Edit - a perfect example of the effect http://postimg.org/image/kxnw8j0vp/

DAMN! These visuals are through the roof! showpiece for next-gen definitely. Even concerning game play from the videos... it looks like a solid start for what can turn into a great franchise.

Ryse does look great. Never said it didn't. But that desperate attempt to make blurry ass, upscaled IQ sound like it is is some sort of creative "thing" to strive for...fuck that. It's BS. he knows it, you know it, i know it.

Great looking as always from Crytek, but people that have had their hands on it peg it as suffering the poor game play as always from Crytek.

No killzone shadowfall is the best looking launch game.

This does look good graphically, after all it's cryengine3. How could it not look decent.

Ryse uses cloud, and they still struggled with 30fps 720p. Xboxone is so underpowered it's comical. Middlegen.

Forza5 is probably the best looking game on it and that's a re-vamped 360 game.

Most games will either be 720p 60fps, or 1080p 30fps.

As for this game, one reviewer stated it's as much fun as dialing phone numbers.

Oh Yes, without a doubt. Had the privilage of playing almost all of the launchgames at an Swedish expo recently and Ryse really stood out in the gfx-department. Videos really doesnt make it justice. (With Killzone on close second)

It's got gameplay.

----------------------------------------------------------

I think what people don't understand from this type of game is the culture and time period. Ryse is close range combat. Anyone looking for samurai sword play or detachable chain swords, they're not gonna get that from this.

In this game players take part in a piece of Roman history, back then there wasn't that much sword art. killing and arranging strategies was what they did best as soldiers. fancy sword art goes to the other cultures.

I think most people are just after fluid, quality combat. But when it is being likened to dialling phone numbers...something ain't right.

As for beyond, still waiting for a reason it was brought up? Or was it just classic deflection? I'm gonna assume the latter.

Korndog trolling in a thread about an xbox exclusive? I'm beyond shocked. Watching him undercut this game is ALMOST as hilarious as watching him wayyyy overhype Sony games lol.

2 of the editors at IGN said playing it in person they thought it's the best looking launch game there is. I'm not so sure I agree with that but I also haven't seen as these games in person like they have. Either way it's a great looking game and Microsoft was damn smart to hire Crytech to show off that while not as powerful the x1 can still achieve great graphics.

Now if only the gameplay looked more promising....

I referred to KillZone's game play as boring... that doesn't mean you do does it? That was one man's take on the game... I can show you at least 3 other publications that spoke well of the game. Why are we to believe the negative one but toss out the positives?

I agree with you. Can't stand those types of games.

But Ryse isn't supposed to be like that.

Crytek are masters of graphics, but suck arse with gameplay.
