Funny to the EXTREME! I can't decide if the funniest part is the guy in the bunny suit with a rocket launcher (humorous contrast) or the guy getting hit in the nuts (slapstick perfection)! They should just call this OW MY BALLZ! Not sure about all the spacecraft they put in the game though. And what is with the color purple for EVERYTHING? I guess it is just a MORE EXTREME color than ordinary colors. DAY 1!!!!!!!....!!!!!!.!!!!!!!!!!!!!......!

I think this is a good video for critics. Nice work, actually.

1 - the spacecraft, is actually a flying aircraft carrier run by Steelport's STAG (Special Tactical Anti Gang) unit, I'm assuming of their police department. It (the floating ACC), and likely STAG itself, is kind of a send up to UNIT's floating battle platform from Doctor Who. Yes, the geek cred of the guys in Champagne, IL runs deep.

2 - the color purple, are the gang colors for the 3rd Street Saints, the titular gang from the Saints Row series. Originally when Volition started developing SR1, the Saint's gang colors were supposed to be green, so as not to be accidentally affiliated with real life gangs, the Bloods (red), or the Crips (blue). However, after GTA: San Andreas came out in 2004 with the Grove Street Families sporting green colors, Volition after another year of debate, changed the 3rd Street Saints colors to purple. If you look at some of the earliest media for Saints Row, you can still see the Saints sporting green.

I for one am happy they went with purple - much nicer color than green, and it allows them to be more than a bit flamboyant about the Saint's activities, without it seeming forced. Kind of how Vice City's flamboyancy works so well, because everything is either neon pink, when it's not 'golden hour' sunset. The purple of the Saints, while it did not effect level design and artistic flow of the first game, has become so much a character of the series, it has definitely effected artistic flow and level design of both games since. I don't think the series would have continually gotten more and more over the top, had they stuck with the color green, as their main color. SR1 is barely over the top at all, and stands as a stark contrast to the remainder of the series.

The first game was fun because it at least tried to be serious, which made all the wacky/insane shit hilarious and awesome because it totally didn't fit with the badass mood of the game. now that they are actually enforcing the wacky and idiotic mayhem as part of their gameplay, i feel like any insane shit I do is just part of the game and not because I was creative enough to find out on my own.

I liked the first one because I could choose if I wanted to play it seriously or goof off, but now that I am pretty much stuck on acting retarded and laughing at dildos and crap like that, it jus feels very shallow. GTA san andreas was fun because people found ways of enjoying the game outside of its interesting story, not because the main character was a complete douche bag you felt no connection to and was just an avatar you fucked shit up with. yeah sure this game looks fun if you're into that over the top sort of thing, but for me I have no interest in this game. Saints Row 1 was the only one I enjoyed playing and looks like it will remain that way.
