Hear that scratching sound? That's the sound of the Namco barrel being scraped.

two wrongs dont make a right... the fact that they're teaming up for 2 games is telling (and no doubt offering those games in drips till we get the final product)

That's some nice design of the characters clothing, you would think that some of the designers were real clothing designers.

Looks, like it's going to be a sub-hd resolution again. A bit disappointing since they really had enough time to tweak that engine i'd say.

the graphics are crap just like in tekken 6. I was hoping for better graphics this time around. I dont understand something, Soul Calibur V is looking better, and also is done by Namco, so why the tekken team cant use that graphic engine instead?? ¬_¬

That's exactly what i don't get either. Though i wouldn't say the graphics are crap. Just not impressive with the resolution thing being worst part.

Actually the worst part is that they continue to milk these archaic fighting games that never really bring anything new to the genre. Fighting games went the way of rock music a few years ago. It's dead.

I don't care about the graphical fidelity of a fighting game, nor do I care about screenshots. It's all about how it looks in motion is what's important. I don't see how this is scraping the bottom of the barrel either considering it's the second game this generation. There were 3 games last generation and 3 in the one before that. Not to mention there's a three year difference between each entry this generation.

And absolutely you guys have no idea how fighting engines work if you're wondering why they're using the same one.

To be fair i think this is a considerable lift from Tekken 6. Does it look amazing technically? Depends on how you see it. Runs at a solid 60 FPS with no dips EVER and has some of the best animation you'll find in games overall so yeah i think it looks alright.

According to Harada the Tekken series has kept steady sales up since pretty much Tekken 3. SFIV seems to be doing quite well and we have SC 5 coming up, not to mention KoF and BlazBlue. Skullgirls as well. Don't see how it's even remotely dead tbh.

They aren't miliking them though, especially not Tekken. Each release is well spaced and has significant upgrades. T6 played a whole lot differently if you compared it to 5, but as usual you need to actually understand how the game works to notice. If you just go in and spam a bit with your friends then yeah, it'll look the same but you aren't even scratching the surface of what the game really offers. TTT2 takes the tag aspect back and that, with the other acumulated changes over the years will change it up quite a lot, not to mention the rebalancing of all the characters. Haven't checked yet but i hope they nerfed Lars and Bruce.

Tekken Tag was a game developed on PlayStation 2, how does that make any sense to be on Xbox when you are already getting Tekken Tag 2 multi platform?

Oh right, so if I look up all of your posts I should find alot of similar complaints when it comes to Call of Duty right?

Did it ever occur to you that there were other game devs who tried to make new, "next genny" fighters and they all failed flat?

The fighting games that remain are Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, King of Fighters and the few others that have an audience. BlazBlue was a nice attempt and it should do ok but unfortunately for that game in the US it completely missed the Arcade era and no, online fighting gameplay is just not the same.

PS I forgot to mention how even Ed Boon went back to the earlier gameplay to make Mortal Kombat better and closer to the old 90s arcade experience.

Err, what exactly does the graphics engine has to do with the gameplay engine?

To be honest, i don't see much of a difference. The backdrops look even less detailed in some of those screens and tekken 6 was running at 60fps already. Imo the game could even look less spectacular technically if the tradeoff was a higher resolution and thus a cleaner look.

I hope the gameplay will be more like tekken 5 or even ttt tough with movement (especially backstep) being more effective/faster again. That would really be nice.

Where did you read, that the resolution will be improved? Since in the shots, it's clearly visible, that it's again upscaled to 720p from a lower res which was the same case with tekken 6. Would be good news if it was officially confirmed (the models and shaders stuff as well of course would be good news) that this won't be the case with the final release.
Looking closer at the vid btw. damage scaling seems again to be a little bit off, but that's nothing new for the series sadly.

You can't judge the damage from a combo vid, more than a few of those combos will be very specific in terms of stage, position and distance to wall. But yeah, 3-4 staple juggles an you'll be dead, no doubt about that.

I'm pretty sure i read it in an interview with harada but i have nothing to link you to confirm it.

Don't worry, i'm not new to the genre. ;) Especially ment the combos at the end, were there are no walls involved and the damage still goes up to like 60% or more which shouldn't be the case imo. Though it admittedly was a bit early for a comment like that, since they'll naturally be doing a lot of tweaking and loketests until the release. Looking forward to it, though movement looks like t6 which, yeah, isn't surprising since it's the basis for this game after all.

Good enough for me, thx.
