Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a superb looking game in which HDR shines so since we've never shown you the PC version running in HDR, here's the time to do so. Inside you'll find the gorgeous benchmark of the game but also a few other videos showing some of the few additional tombs which came out after the title's release. Note that we used NIVIDIA's DLSS on all our captures.

I really hated the collectibles in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, they were too many and really worthless most of the time. It felt like they wanted to do what Assassin's Creed games do, but were bad at it and executed it very poorly. Ubisoft games do collectibles better than anyone because they're basically its own genre - "collect-a-thon" - and they're doing it for over a decade now in almost all their games.
All of which is a shame, because I loved to death the collectibles in both Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider, which I did 3 and 2 100% playthroughs, respectively. The lore and insight into the Japanese folklore and Christian alternate history were very fascinating, while here the Mayan and Incan lore fell flat for me most of the time. It got to the point where it was very tiring. This from someone who loves collectibles in Ubisoft games, so they definitely screwed that up.

secondary opinion on the franchise -
I really do hope they bridge the original games with remakes, and improve the dialog along the way.
the biggest obstacle i see currently in the reboot is that Lara is seemingly less flexible than she was before.
given the amount of realism they added to her movement. and she seems much older in SoTR.
they may have to re-design her again, to fit the original specifications of the classic games.
or perhaps they will blend the two concepts together. anyways can't wait to see the next installment in the series.
I still hope they scale down in size and collectibles. Otherwise, it feels like a game that's trying to be both open-world and linear at the same time, which causes all sorts of issues imho. I'm also hoping for a remaster of Tomb Raider (2013), those graphics and specially the character models look very dated in 2020. While Rise of the Tomb Raider almost feels like CG at times.
Though this is a pipe dream at the moment, maybe in 5-20 years Square Enix will do a remaster. If they're doing a remaster of the first Nier, which sold very poorly, then making one of Tomb Raider (2013), which sold a lot is much more appealing. Only time will tell, I'm still waiting for a Chrono Trigger remake treatment just like that of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. That could be perfect.
which it features 60fps, enhanced textures and characters. might have to check this out again.
