SQUARE ENIX CONFIRMS SLEEPING DOGS: DEFINITIVE EDITION
Award Winning, Open-World, Action-Adventure Reworked for PS4, Xbox One and PC

LOS ANGELES (August 8, 2014) – Square Enix and United Front Games today confirms that SLEEPING DOGS™: DEFINITIVE EDITION is due to launch on October 14, 2014 in North America for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows® PC.

SLEEPING DOGS: DEFINITIVE EDITION is a re-mastered update of the critically acclaimed SLEEPING DOGS which released in 2012. The capabilities of today’s hardware have truly brought the vibrant Hong Kong experience to life. In addition, a total of 24 pieces of downloadable content have been integrated into the gaming experience including the story-extending episode Year of the Snake and the horror-themed add-on Nightmare in North Point.

“It was an exciting opportunity for the original development team to be able revisit a game we’re so passionate about”, said Dan Sochan, Senior Producer at United Front Games. “We’re giving old and new fans a lot reasons to pick up the game, as we’ve gone beyond just increasing resolution and running at 1080p. We listened to the fans: we tuned gameplay, we added to the ambience of Hong Kong, increased audio fidelity and pushed the visuals further than we could on the previous generation of consoles.”

In SLEEPING DOGS: DEFINITIVE EDITION you explore the seedy underbelly of Hong Kong, as Wei Shen, a conflicted undercover cop, tasked with battling the ruthless Triads and his inner demons to take down the Dragon Head. Play on either side of the law, with Cop and Triad missions, as you manoeuvre through the ranks of the organisation. Featuring an unmatched and brutal martial arts system, movie-style shootouts, and high-speed racing – Sleeping Dogs’ Hong Kong is the ultimate open world playground.

Was this Live Action footage done back in 2012 for the original game? Because if it is only new for this version of the game I have to question what they were thinking with this trailer then. If it is due in less than 3 months surely they have a working build of the game to show us?

Probably: the Steam version, with its high res pack. This wasn't announced for PC. I doubt they changed much.

They confirmed it for PC as well. I was actually wondering if they made any improvements to the gameplay and they did, along with graphics, audio and ambiance:

"We're giving old and new fans a lot reasons to pick up the game, as we've gone beyond just increasing resolution and running at 1080p. We listened to the fans: we tuned gameplay, we added to the ambiance of Hong Kong, increased audio fidelity and pushed the visuals further than we could on the previous generation of consoles."

As useless as I think CG trailers are, this is the absolute most asinine thing possible when trying to promote a game. Why would anyone want to buy the game after seeing this trailer? *facepalm*

Reuse of a 2012 trailer for this to save money totally makes sense.

I like the way the main character looks like and fights.....but i could not get into this game when i was playing it. i thought the game was too unnecessarily vulgar for my taste. i hate when movies and games have to use too much profanity to fill up their empty scripts.

With the small amount of the game I played, I didn't feel they went over board with profanity in this game. I mean there is a certain "authenticity" to the overuse of profanity in law enforcement & crime syndicates & the like.

I probably went much further in the game than you probably did then. but you're right though about law enforcement & crime syndicates being graphic as they are in real life.

I just think if i was the script writer, i would trade in a bunch of the context written and place in more plot fillers. we already know how grungy some cities are. what we don't see everyday is complexity and clockwork working underground.

A very good game- great in places, much less so in others... but I bought and played ALL the DLC already, so this isn't for me. But if you haven't played it- it's well worth is. Moreso if they fix the fairly suck ass driving mechanic.

Why bother? This looks just like the PC version of yester-year. There's tons of the game looking really nice out there.
That said, I have no idea.

Driving was fun for me, maybe you just need to learn how to use it.

with the definitive edition of sleeping dogs coming out to PC as well, maybe they'll bring over the definitive edition of Tombraider too. it's only a matter of time now.

Absolutely loved this game, graphics where amazing and still look good now, gameplay was great, beat it inside out, only issue I had was the radio stations, when it used to restart a song when you got out then into your car, tho it was a better soundtrack than watchdogs, I have to turn that off.

It's a fun game with a few fairly forgivable flaws. I like it a lot. I look forward to the sequel.

Thanx for understanding my comment. I meant to say "I never played this game" instead of "I very played this game." Anyway, It's definitely on my radar since I finally have all my 2014 pre orders paid in full.

I agree. In fact, I can honestly say I had a lot more fun with this game than GTA4. Obviously GTA5 is a different story.

That asian badass feel and that good old True Crime kind of combat system... its a must for me.

Only problems I had with SD was the lack of MP mode (I dont know if they released one later, Ive never touched it or read about it again) and the fact that you couldnt keep the guns to use or change them anytime you want like we do in almost all games.

Other than that, loved it!! Plus, some parts remember me of Shenmue... needless to say more.

PS: sorry for the DP
