cos once you take your first shot, and it isnt masked by ambient sounds, the shit hits the fan and you have to take fools out the old fashioned way.

Agreed, but you have to admit it is odd that six out of seven official screenshots have nothing to do with sniping, and everything to do with running and gunning (3 shots), or close quarters combat (3 shots).

Either way, still really interested in this. I'm just concerned about the physics in the game. For me, shooting and combat games always come down to the physics (ragdolls, hit reactions, environmental reactions, ballistics modeling etc). I can deal with a game with crap graphics as long as they nail the physics, but from the gameplay, this game seems to be about 10 years behind in everything other than the ballistics modelling. I have a really hard time going back to static death animations after playing games with dynamic physics. Here's hoping I'm wrong...

I believe the majority of the screenshots are meant to show us that this game has more mix of close quarter action then the previous game. would make sense considering capcoms take on its resident evil series switching into a more action oriented game, and that is because there is a smaller market in the survivor horror genre then the action/adventure genre. im sure the same goes with tactical shooters; there are less fans of tactical shooters then first person shooters, so they just expanding their audience.

Couple reasons, the primary being that the World Wars were a little different. Close contact was a lot more common, and snipers were used to take out primary targets. Officers, political figures, etc. This means getting behind enemy lines stealthily and executing the gameplan with enemies usually on all sides. The cities that snipers often operated in didn't really give you enough space, nor did the Rifles or optics give you enough range to just hang out beyond the opposition perimeter and take the shot from there. Even today, in modern militaries, snipers are trained more than anything in stealth. How to navigate terrain and environments without being spotted, and making it out. On top of that, things don't always go to plan, and you have to evade and some times even engage secondary targets if your location or even just you presence becomes known.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/03/23/hands-o... A good write-up on how the game plays and why you'll find yourself in sometimes very close quarters with opposition.

Er, two shots were of "running and gunning" (the tank shot is enemies, that you might, for example, observe) and I think it's better and more realistic to face (EXTREMELY HIGH) enemy opposition if you are found or compromised, so I don't see the problem. Rather than judging the game based on one set of multiple sets of screenshots, try reading some hands on stuff and you might find yourself actually informed. In fact, people who played the game said that if things went bad, things got really tough, and usually just ended in at least a very near death experience. The game is largely about stealth and sniping. The rest is pretty much just what happens when you fuck up.
