Now that's the sonic we know and love classical 2d feel. Awesomegood job guys, although the levels seem too dark, I miss the water levels & the casino levels!

Unless this is 60fps I'm not going anywhere near it. The demo was headache inducingly juddery.

wow, i bet the megadrive was painful to play then..

Also the only staggers i found was when the camera was panning instead of a smooth pan it went from one camera to a other causing a stutter not 1 camera sliding..
Aside from them moments i thought i very smooth ride.

Most games on the megadrive where 60fps including all Sonics, same with SNES

maybe the slow based gameplay made it seem slower for me, or maybe the UK version was held back (snes was for instance, it was NOT in 60fps in the uk)

Probably because NTSC had 60hz tv's while UK PAL tv only did 50hz back then

yeah think it was something to do with that, i know if you put a flip switch on your UK snes to make it multiregion streetfighters speed up massively

LOL. No they weren't. Back then, no one cared about framerate, so games weren't tracked. There was "smooth" and "choppy". Also, I'm sure only a handful of game ran at a full 50/60hz. Most were probably 30.
I should know, I've made games for everything since the Apple II.

Whoever took the Sonic shots should be shot. The graphics don't scale, so why put out such massive shots? Next time they should try resolutions the game's in and the game's art can handle.

What on earth are you talking about?

The SNES and MD era was glorious in that virtually every game was 60fps, including Sonic. Anyone unfortunate enough to be stuck with a slow-motion 50fps PAL system should have either modded it, or bought an import.

If you think Sonic Generations is smooth you really need to see an optician.

That is 100% incorrect. The tile based playfields of the SNES and MD were entirely hardware rendered and rarely dropped below 60fps.

It's the resolution most people will be playing it in on their HD TVs, so it's probably best to show it that way.

Yes because back in the day of megadrive and snes when most gamers was about 12 modding your megadrive and snes to run at 60hz (most european tvs were not compatible with 60hz) imports were a thing only for people who had vast abundance of money, the machines and games cost a fortune at the time

as for generation will have to play it again (assuming i can, a timed demo...really?)
is it just the 360 that stutters or the ps3?

I modded my MegaDrive to run at 60hz. To do so required a screwdriver, a piece of wire, and a switch (about 50p from Maplin). Took about 5 minutes to do. Obviously I realise such actions are just for the elites of society, and out of the reach of regular Joes.

Once modded 50hz games played at 60hz, so you could wait for eventual EU releases and still play then properly.
