I don't get it. Seriously. How has Soul Calibur been milked, especially compared to countless other franchises this generation? We're on our fifth game in more than a decade, and SCV is probably the biggest overhaul in franchise history.

Of course, you're right. The girls eyes in DOA are big, too. But DOA always had this anime look. At least they try to change it a bit with DOA5 now.
But tbh, an over-animeish style doesn't fit SC, IMO. Phyrres (I googled her name now, lol) are huge. Maybe they wanted a more innocent and girly like look.

SC has ALWAYS had anime based characters, I think you're the one smoking something... If you want realism there's VF. Anyhoo I'm in no rush to play this either, not unless they fixed the countless problems with SC4 (load times, shit story mode, dull online are biggies)
