I really wish this would have launched with the incoming Story Mode DLC built in so people wouldn't get the wrong idea about "lack of content" claims in reviews. Then again, true SF fans play SF for the gameplay. No one will care about the story mode either way. All that matters is the perfect gameplay, which SF5 has in spades. The game plays and feels much better than SF4.

What wrong idea? The game lacks content. The launch borders on pathetic and they deserve the criticism. Forget the story mode... there's not even an arcade mode. Street Fighter 5 won't be feature complete until March at the earliest.

I love the game... but this is basically an always-on version of the beta.

It feels a bit bare bones for sure, especially when the goddamn multiplayer doesn't even work :)

Yes, people do care about the story. Gameplay is one of the main reasons to buy a game, but a story gives more detail into these characters and helps to build the universe even better. Saying that true SF fan plays SF just for the gameplay is the reason why companies don't bother evolving their games. Been playing since Street Fighter 2 but would be more interested in the series if they go into depth of who these characters are. I have the game and it doesn't even have an arcade mode. Single player content is only training, survival, and a 4 minute vague prologue. Not to mention it having to be online for most of the features to work. Played survival mode for the costumes and reached towards the end when the servers decided to act up and returned me to the main menu.

This is a Demo not a full game, no options for the offline... WTF

This "online required" shit is getting old. I´m not planning to get this game, but I´m always pissed hearing this. One day, they will force You to be online just to turn the PC/console on. This game is a huge paradox....require online, but lacking even basic content. Wow...here here, take my money.

You can play it offline, there's just no content available, lol. The super shitty story mode and practice is all you get if you don't wnat to play against other players. But then, that doesn't work currently either, so the reasons to buy this game are few.

Gotta love all the retards on steam trying to excuse this mess of a release. The game is not even close to a finished state, and the servers are still fucked. But anyone who is not happy about this is a jerk that needs to stop crying.

The reviews are pretty poor as user reviews go... which I think is fair. The other side of that is that the user reviews will never reflect the improvements the game experiences from here on out. But that's not really my problem.

I've seen that happen in every bad launch I've experienced. If the game works for you.. if the game satisfies you.. it should satisfy everyone! :D

I am glad it's out.. but it sure aint finished.

As soon as the matchmaking starts working i'm ok, but i've been queueing for 3 (!) friggin hours now, and not a single match has been had.

All this would be avoided if they just slapped a "early access" tag on there, or just kept going with the beta.

Oh, and as for the reviews...well, that's kinda what you get when you try to sell a beta as a full game, no? I mean, i think SFV seems like a good game at the core, so it's sad that the sales will most likely take a hit, but crapcom are really living up to the name with this one imo.

Story in Street Fighter has always been it's weakest link...it's corny and unfortunately due to the censorship and altering of Japanese names to U.S.A. market in the 90s it sucks even more.

The animes always are fun but most of the actual storylines are in the fans heads.

Mortal Kombat however had a story (taken from a mixture of asian films and american films) Fatal Fury had a great story.

Also it's amazing how every screnshot looks like a painting.

What? Why?
Challenges - absent, "story" mode is one very easy round, 2-4 fights, and that's it, with huge Fight Money and exp bonuses that make no sense. Shop feature is also absent, so you can't even buy anything with Fight Money not even the story mode costumes you unlock. No simple VS AI mode, no arcade mode. Survival is easy even on hard and you lose to boredom instead. Battle Lounge feature doesn't work as of now, and multiplayer in general is very unstable. Plus it kicks you out of server every once in a while, blocking you from receiving any exp or fight money. And people have varying degress of success in finding ranked/casual matches. Some times I had 3 in a row, some times I had to wait 40 minutes and nothing. Plus they simplified combat mechanics with "players who are usually bad at fighting games" in mind. Lupe beat Daigo - that was some WWE tier faux aimed at boosting game's popularity - "if some rapper could beat the Beast, so can you :^) ".

OK...I think I understood to that post in a different way. I thought it's kind of post, where someone is shocked, because no console player complained about SF being on PC.

Yeah, sorry, I wanted to write that I misunderstood you and didn't see you weren't quoting "This game is getting hammered on Steam reviews." but I was already leaving.

So so launch for this ... the game itself is quite solid ... but missing out on my first day of online matches was kind of weird. Reminded me of when you couldn't play fighting games until your friends came over lol

People defending this pathetic nonsense is the reason why this situation exists. Stop buying betas and supporting them, and companies will stop bringing out betas due to backlash and boycotts.

I don't give a single hoot about the story. I just want to play and get good at the game. Playing against the AI only makes you shitty.
