Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 strikes back with another dev diary video focused on combat. Should this sequel improve the gameplay elements that needed a bit more polish in the first game and keep everything that was strong, we might very well get another great adventure in a galaxy far away. Hopefully, the force will be strong with this one.

the first one was a joke though, i think its available on steam but its like 30 GB!!! LOLOLOL
The game has tons of potential for sure, I am glad they reinvented the combat for this one, Starkiller is much more faster this time around, has more stylish combat because of 2 lightsabers, more combo variations...etc.
However one thing that bothers me is the lack of lightsaber styles.
Why cant they add lightsaber staff, tonfas, single handed lightsaber...etc. different styles, it would be so great.
Anyways, from what I seen I really like it.
Though the game still have that shitty recovery animation were if you get hit and you are down the enemy can still hit you.
Graphically, looks great, love the lightning and rain effects.
Hopefully on PC it wont be shit like the first one, they didnt fix the bugs and the size was crazy huge.
And the whole mind-control suicide/bomb thing is weak.
Really polished melee combat is what this game needs to shine.
Need some impressions first on how the hit detection is and how punchy the combat feels.
First one was awfull in that department,I still liked it but damn it I wanted it to be awesome.
WTF, even in the new video, it looks to take like 10 lightsaber hits to knock out a storm trooper. Those things should be sending limbs flying everywhere! I didn't see any of the "dismemberment" in that video at all. Then again, it will probably end up being part of a scripted QTE anyway.
Maybe it's just me, but a bad@ss Star Wars character should be all about the lightsabers. The force powers are cool in small moderation, but I don't want to be flying around shooting crumpled up AT-AT's charged with "canonball" like powers at stormtroopers while simultaneously juggling and electro-choking 2 rancors. Can't we just get KOTOR 3 already?
Chain-lightning attacks to multiple enemies is cool if you're playing Diablo, however, that's the last thing I want to be doing(besides Force forcing guys to commit suicide) if I'm playing as a badass Jedi/Sith with a lightsaber or two. The more grandiose the Force powers get, the less it feels like Star Wars.
I think they are awesome!
:)
Also stormtrooper armour can apparently withstand a direct lightsabre blow now for god sake! (look at the video)
I take it as a "what if?" scenario in the most awesome Star Wars universe.
You know, like "What if there was a Psi-Ops sequel?"
If this combat can touch Jedi Knights games, then I might actually give this series a go.
If you have your lightsaber cut limbs with one swing then the purpose to combos is out, and thats no fun.
I do agree that the lightsaber still feels like using a glowing baseball bat but atleast dismemberment is in there and they have to make it "weighty" when you do some combos.
Lightsabers is a hard thing to execute in games compared to swords.
If you have them getting cut in each swing then there is no purpose of combos at all, no fun.
But if you want combos you have to use the "baseball bat" mentality to make it work, even fi they get pushed back a bit. The whole "flying all over the place" is exagerated, in TFU1 it would happen even if you would try to grab them and that was the technical issues that made it that way, not on purpose.
as with the first they can make it look really cool. but when you get your hands on it is just doesnt feel all that great. especially regarding the combat.

Either way, I do agree with you (or me, haha!); The game looks pretty cool at first, but when you get your hands on it, it's just very mediocre and extremely unsatisfying. For that reason, I can't really get excited for this one. Visuals are excellent though.
